Not, in my opinion, the best of the series.
But, in two weeks, issue #50 finally hits. And then we get to witness, firsthand, the Dying of the Light.

Re: MTMTE #49
I thought it was a decent way to round off all the plot threads that last issue raised, and so most of my gripes with this issue would have more to do with last issue than this one; namely:
1) Froid is thoroughly unconvincing
2) Sunder's not a great villain
3) No-one cares about either of them
4) Who are they again?
5) Sorry, was there actually a reason why Froid let Sunder out of his cage, other than "bwahahahahaha"?

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Re: MTMTE #49
I actually thought Sunder was a good villain. That shot of froid and Thunderclash transforming in macabre fashion was pretty awesome.
I wish IDW would sort out their distribution issues tho. Some months we get two issues other times it takes 2 months to get one.

Re: MTMTE #49
That close-up of Sunder's face in the previous issue, with the empty eyes, pointy teeth and evil smile would have scared the bejeezus out of me as kid. Proper brown trousers time, as Rick & Ade used to say!
I think Sunder could have been an ace villain. Lots of potential and really freaky. It feels like Darth Maul-itis to me; a potentially great character knocked off before he's had a chance to shine.
Or should I say; put asunder? Chortle. Yeah, 'chortle'. I got that from Whizzer & Chips, or Buster (not Witwicky).
Perhaps the only interesting thing he said before he got crushed was to expand slightly on the fact that Mnemosurgeons die because they get addicted to the practice, and move closer and closer to their own deaths with each injection. Which explains why Rewind is so adamant for Chromedome to give it up. So he may wind up killing himself before anyone else gets the chance.

What the hell happened to Getaway?
I don't think Sunder did that. Cyclonus? Is the DJD already on board?

Re: MTMTE #49
The crew did it, so it was vetted by Rodimus, Magnus & Megatron. They removed his arms, legs and voxbox because he's a master escape artist and smooth talker. Harsh, but it stops him getting away. Maybe its also because they may have no spark extraction capability on board, and the slow cell is gone.

So... why did Froid let Sunder out of his cage again?
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Re: MTMTE #49
I think in the previous issue Froid revealed he'd made a deal with Sunder to source him some truly messed up minds, because these represent good eatin' for Sunder. The people on Rung's books should be the tastiest morsels.

Count me as another who couldn't really follow why Froid and Sunder did... what they did. But Megatron's change of heart was very nice, and bodes for interesting times.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Re: MTMTE #49
I read it again and Froid says something about the alternative - leaving Sunder in his cage - being worse; maybe that was a clue about the shuttle being more than meets the eye (roll credits) and I think the "cage" became the "head" of that thing when it transformed... but then if it was just a fake cage, he wouldn't need Froid to let him out in the first place...

His previous issues kind of played to his strengths, I think. This issue...did not do that.snarl wrote:I don't think the art helped it.

Re: MTMTE #49
Couldn't care less about what was actually going on onboard the lost light. I just sat there in shock at the whole smelting pool page. Skids made this issue for me.

Meh, thought it was weak. Couldn't tell from the art what was going on. Couldn't tell what happened to Getaway. That was just weird. Didn't see the point of Sunder. Or Froid for that matter. Come to think of it, I don't remember what happened to Froid. Which means, I didn't really care.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
