Seems like we're finally going to get some Skids backstory - I'm loving all the cameos in this.
Heavy Tread! Charger! Wingthing! Take-Off! Flywheels! Glit! Ruckus! Dreadwind! Skyquake!

I didn't like this issue. Finding it hard to articulate why. It's maybe lacking in personality compared to previous issues.

Re: MTMTE #48 preview
I am not a fan when Roberts skips past major plot elements and then fills in the details afterwards in passing. What happened last issue was huge. Ignoring that hurts the plot.
Froid and his companion were creepy as all get out though.
All in all I feel like things are treading water for issue 50

This is disappointing to hear. I am actually pushing this off so I can get it with Sins #2 and the Christmas special, even though after #47 I was chomping to read more.
Will I be disappointed I bought that stupid-pricey Tailgate with a Cyc upgrade kit?

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Not as bad an issue I thought it would be given the above comments. But I can certainly understand the disappointment and glossing over of the events of last issue. That was strange.
Don't know half those guys. I know Flywheels, Ruckus, and Dreadwind. Were they all UK Marvel fare?
One thing about James is he always has me on edge for the amazing reveals at the end of each issue. He's one of the best I've ever seen at that.
But I kind of get the feeling James might be juggling too many balls now. Every issue he introduces something new, plants that seed for future stories, mentions something offhand that makes us curious as hell to find out about. But I ultimately forget because he never gets around to fleshing it out until we can't remember what the hell it was when it was mentioned way back when. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that about his writing, that universe-building he does. It's the timing and organization of it all I see a problem with. I think he needs to pare that down and address more directly events/characters that he brings into the story. Tighten things up a bit. Though his comics are amazingly intricate and clever, I don't like to have to go back and reread something or search for something on the TFWiki. I want things fresh in mind. They have more impact that way. So yeah, drop a few balls (and certainly don't introduce more!) and let's flesh things out more.
And I'll say it again, Roberts has a dark side to him that I find a bit creepy. The ridiculously insane methods he comes up with to torture characters is disturbing. Very sadistic stuff.

Re: MTMTE #48 preview
Octus is the only Marvel UKer - Heavy Tread is (usually) a Micromaster from one or another of the patrols, Wingthing is Soundwave's Action Master partner (who also appeared in RG1), Charger and Take-Off are European-exclusive Action Masters (previously seen in IDW as part of Turmoil's crew in the first Drift mini-series), Glit is one of the Kiss Players cassettes (also previously seen in the first Drift mini-series although only as a corpse) and Skyquake is a late-G1 release (who previously appeared in the present day in Last Stand of the Wreckers where he was killed by Overlord).Don't know half those guys. I know Flywheels, Ruckus, and Dreadwind. Were they all UK Marvel fare?
[edit] Also in this issue is Stalker, whose toy was released at the same time as Skyquake's - he was the dude that tortured Twin Twist in LSOTW and ended up getting killed by Springer.
See, I didn't really feel that last issue's events were glossed over - we found out that Cyclonus survived, Tailgate fell into a coma, Atomizer and Getaway were found out and arrested, Thunderclash woke up and Megs and Cyclonus fell over themselves trying to apologise to the other. I could understand annoyance if those plotlines hadn't been addressed at all this issue (which was what I was expecting) but I quite liked the way it was handled. I'm not so sure about Tailgate slipping into another coma, though. On the one hand it keeps him away from the action for the next few issues, which is good, on the other it seems a bit... lazy. Plus it means Cyclonus is going to be extra-mopey for the foreseeable. But I can certainly understand the disappointment and glossing over of the events of last issue. That was strange.
But yeah, I expected this issue to ignore the events of the previous issue completely, which it didn't. I thought it worked quite well, having a couple of pages dedicated to explaining it and then back to the A-story with Rung.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Okay, that just made me feel like a wanna be TF fan. I think I'm losing it guys. Please tell me you had to look all that up somewhere, because if not, it might be time for me to retire into the sunset.Metal Vendetta wrote: Octus is the only Marvel UKer - Heavy Tread is (usually) a Micromaster from one or another of the patrols, Wingthing is Soundwave's Action Master partner (who also appeared in RG1), Charger and Take-Off are European-exclusive Action Masters (previously seen in IDW as part of Turmoil's crew in the first Drift mini-series), Glit is one of the Kiss Players cassettes (also previously seen in the first Drift mini-series although only as a corpse) and Skyquake is a late-G1 release (who previously appeared in the present day in Last Stand of the Wreckers where he was killed by Overlord).
