PC language police strike again

"You PC brah? You making light of a fictional, brain-damaged, shape-changing robot's condition, huh? You think that's funny or something?"

Honestly, I don't understand how these people can be so sensitive to language that it turns them into such retarded dribbling spastics.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Yay another example of comics "fans" leaping all over something they probably haven't read in a horrific display of virtue signalling.

I mean I've not read the issue, but I took the tweet in the manner it's intended. Whether Grimlock's brain-damaged or not, it's a simple case of "you've got one of the [ex]opposition here, you've been offered some money, what do you do."

I ******* hate the online comics community at times.

I loathe them. I utterly despise their presumed moral authority and their snivelling, cowardly tactics. I resent the fact that they call themselves "liberals" when their censorious prudery is nothing of the sort. I hate the way that they purport to speak for those less advantaged than them - whether those less advantaged than them want them to or not. They are a cancer that should be cut out of our society and burnt before it infects any more healthy cells. They are nothing less than bullies who can't bear to imagine that other people might have differing opinions or tastes, or even in this case, give someone who is obviously not a bad person the slightest benefit of the doubt. A pox on all their houses.

I'm with you on this one, Emvee.

When I first heard about it, I kind of assumed it was a parody, like that "boycott Episode 7" stuff.

I wouldn't acknowledge the *****.

If they've proven themselves to be too stupid to be worth knowing, then I don't know them.

while i agree this incident is BS i am not sure that transposing it onto everyone who complains about stuff or points to in some cases legitimate offense is a valid jump.

I'm not sure i would define being liberal as never opposing anything either, including the written word. There's a big difference between banning someone from doing something and challenging whether they should. For example i would suggest that referring to people as a cancer has rather bothersome historical connotations and equally that using an illness based insult that has historical links to the bullying of the mentally ill is something people with a sense of decency should do their best to avoid.

"Legitimate offence" is a tricky beast to define, isn't it? I mean, I don't think anyone joins a knee-jerk Twitter lynch mob because they think they've been offended illegitimately. No, they think they've actually been discriminated against by a scientist's shirt, or an incentive comic book cover, or the new passport design, or a comedian on ITV2 (whatever that is).

liberal
ˈlɪb(ə)r(ə)l
adjective
1. willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.

That's right, today we're going to respect and accept a differing opinion while at the same time opposing it and challenging whether they should do it in the first place. With the end goal (always the end goal) of having that opinion banned or getting them fired from their job. Aren't we "liberal"?
For example i would suggest that referring to people as a cancer has rather bothersome historical connotations and equally that using an illness based insult that has historical links to the bullying of the mentally ill is something people with a sense of decency should do their best to avoid.
It's almost as if I deliberately used the phrase "retarded dribbling spastics" in regard to people complaining about "ableist language" - I even went so far as to include both "retarded" and "spastics" for both US and UK readers so as not to exclude anyone who might accidentally not be offended by my choice of words.

Ironically, "retarded dribbling spastics" are the least likely to jump on the PC bandwagon.

Although there's probably some cruel bastards who'd run tow-lines to their wheelchairs.

You must be exhausted Rob.

It must be tiring enough decrying people speaking on behalf of others whilst at the same time paranoidly stating what other people's motives are.

To have to do that whilst also vigorously championing freedom through pseudo-nazi/hopkins hate speak.

And there is so much internet to get to to track down all these consistently terrible people who provoke these tautological rants.

Maybe have a nap instead?
