very interesting... Genuinely unsettling.
Right, my spoilery idea...
.......
so they reckon Brainstorm has gone back in time to off Prime. And judging by the cover of 36, Roller is involved in said story.
I have a feeling Roller saves Prime from Brainstorm, taking the bullet like Impactor in Operation Volcano maybe?
The repercussion of the attempted assassination is that Roller becomes Tarn, maybe wearing the con face cause his normal face got all shot taking the bullet?
This would then give Tarn a motive for killing Brainstorm on the Lost Light 2 in #33.

As usual, can't wait till next issue. I did like Perceptor casually dismissing parallel universes as a crackpot theory.

I think I'm gonna be disappointed if snarl's prediction *isn't* accurate.

That, and when screen-faced Dominus says "My brother's always been hard to read." See, now that's clever.

Re: MTMTE #35
I am not sure how i feel about this issue.
Obviously it is still brilliant - but last month packed such a punch i think this paled a little in comparison - i would have liked to see a little more emotional fallout from TB's death.
The other thing that threw me a bit was i had not considered that scene at the end of issue 33 to be Brainstorm surrounded by bodies - i thought he had accelerated time or something so that everyone was drunk. I thought there was more of a mystery as to whether he was really a traitor or not, but maybe that is just me. Either way i came into the issue with a slightly different sense of what was going on that turned out to be the case which threw me a bit. I do feel that there have been a couple of times now where a key moment has lacked the visual edge to really make it clear what has is going on.
In short: world building, amazing, story (or maybe pace of story), bit uneven.
None of which does not make my existentially desperate for the next issue

Re: MTMTE #35
I was also thinking there was more to Brainstorm's allegiance than, er, meets the eye, but poisoning everyone on board the Lost Light is quite unequivocal...still, it doesn't quite make sense that the D.J.D. would kill him if he really was a Decepticon. If he was the one who opened Overlord's slow cell then surely they'd be all like, "Good work, undercover dude, you've served Megatron most loyally." I had him pegged as some kind of triple agent maybe, but I'm not sure I can sustain that idea now, maybe he's just using each side against the other?I thought there was more of a mystery as to whether he was really a traitor or not, but maybe that is just me.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Re: MTMTE #35
I think the thing is, JR does so much mystery and does it well that we're always primed to look deeper into everything.
I think more and more this looks cut and dried - brainstorm is a bit of a ****... in that he's prepared to go to massive lengths to achieve his goals.
THOSE are what we need to find out though.

Re: MTMTE #35
No way I'm convinced Brainstorm is classic Con, or Con at all. Like snarlz says, he might go to whatever lengths he feels necessary to achieve an end, but likely the end is good for the Autobot cause. Sort of Prowl-like if you will. Roberts' Prowl, not current lameass Prowl.

Re: MTMTE #35
speaking of the DJD and Megatron.
SO the DJD are all like, you must follow megatons plans or else we will hunt you down and kill you. we will do this as we are super powerful deceptions.
If so, are they more powerful than Megatron himself?
I enjoyed this issue, sure its a 'what if' style comic but it was superbly written, and the artwork, using the harsh red over tones and such was unsettling. it really felt like some horrible big brother world gone mad.

Wow! This was a seriously *dense* issue. And bleak as hell.
The war with the Decepticons? Millions upon millions of years of endless war and destruction? *That* was the best-case (heh, case) scenario!

Oh, ****. Brainstorm killing Orion Pax wouldn't lead to that dystopia seen in the issue. Brainstorm's gonna kill Megatron.

Re: MTMTE #35
Ok, so hear me out.
If Brainstorm killed Orion Pax, Megatron and his Decepticons would have torn the ruling council apart. The Functionalists would have been obliterated, not become *more* powerful and influential. Megatron would likely be the ruler of Cybertron and "Peace Through Tyranny" would, in all likelihood, been achieved.
But kill Megatron before he starts the revolution and, eventually, the war and those in power will just grab more and more of it for themselves. Perhaps Orion Pax would oppose them in some small way, or least not be completely on board with what they're doing, but without Megatron to inspire him, he'd never go on to the 'bot who'd become Optimus Prime.
But that does leave open the question of where IS Orion Pax in the new reality that Brainstorm created? I don't know. But he'd probably be the kind of bot who, if not outright revolutionary, would probably be a big enough pain in the rear to merit Empurata and/or Shadowplay...

#36:
OUTLAWS! Before the war, Orion Pax was part of the Establishment-until a friend opened his eyes to the truth behind the lies and he vowed to overthrow the system. Now, it seems as if his newfound enemies are willing to go to any lengths to see him dead-even if it means waiting four million years...
#37:
DESPERATE MEASURES! Four million years ago, as CYBERTRON teetered on the brink of all-out war, a group of Autobots decided it was time to take matters into their own hands. Everyone concerned would subsequently agree that this was a very, very bad move...
#38
JOURNEY'S END! Across time, across space, from prewar Messatine to postwar CYBERTRON-it's all been heading towards this-the moment when the fate of the AUTOBOTS and the DECEPTICONS is sealed. At the heart of it all: three killers, two outcomes... and one terrible, terrible choice.
--------------
I think these are all sufficiently well worded to support all of the above theories - although it does sound like Opax is going to be in the firing line via a time travelling assasination event.
That's the problem with Roberts - he's so tricksy that when he plays a straight bat you don't believe him! Arrgh.

Yeah, I'm not gleaning any stunning insight into the story from those three descriptions.
Loved this issue. Feeling a bit talky so far in Season 2, though. Could use another rip-roarin' adventure.

I have a feeling it's going to end with Meg's having to make a choice between a better path for him and a better path for everyone else - "the moment when the fate of the AUTOBOTS and the DECEPTICONS is sealed".

Re: MTMTE #35
Or...maybe it's the opposite. Maybe the crazy dystopian Cybertron is the real timeline and Brainstorm went back to *save* Megatron.snarl wrote:I think it'll be "Do we kill Megatron and let this functionist bs take place, or let him live and have the 4,000,000 year war?"
The "timing" works out pretty well. In a choice between the Functionist Cybertron and "Endless war that all-but destroyed the planet", I guess the Functionist thing is the lesser of two evils.
But once Brainstorm saw that the war ended, Cybertron was restored, the Decepticons were (by and large) granted amnesty, and Megatron himself, the guy who started the war, joined the Autobots... Well, suddenly that four million years of war has a light at the end of an incredibly long tunnel.

He's going after Megatron. No doubt.
Cause Megatron has to go back and stop him.
And I can see Roberts having Megatron teaming up with......Megatron to save himself.
Just brainstorming here. Get it? Nyah nyah.

I'm already gutted for Roller. Despite just 5 mins of appearances I just think he's the bollocks.
Is he going to become Tarn, die horribly... what?
Where's the 3rd party toy already!?
