It's amazing what companies can achieve with modern design tools. In this case, the toy reminds me a lot of the G1 Megatron cameo in Beast Wars.
Re: Finally a Masterpiece size Megs worth a look
I'm just impressed they were able to produce anatomically accurate robot Megatron from a gun. Incredible.

Don't get too excited. Xtransbots previous releases have been laden with QC problems and I can't imagine this will be any better. The UKs main importers are refusing to even stock it.
Shame, as they have nailed the design

What's wrong with this guy? http://tformers.com/new-images-bold-for ... /news.html

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Nothing wrong with that, looks sweet, but it's still a tank. Let's see them do that with a gun mode.

I thought that guy was a triple changer.
I always liked Megs better as a tank. A little tiny gun just doesn't feel threatening.

I dunno. I've always found guns more threatening than tanks. Tanks don't tend to be involved in the deaths of 30,000 Americans every year.

Just the 30,000 other people Amerkins want to kill, eh?

No, it's still on preorder. Don't think it's actually out yet.

Re: Finally a Masterpiece size Megs worth a look
Right, I have this.
Design-wise in robot mode it's absolutely nailed it. Feels nice and sturdy with a good range of movement and generally tight joints.
The inside-leg kibble is a bit loose. Also the flap on his forearm (that the fusion cannon pegs into) could do with being on a tighter hinge. In terms of joints and QC it's miles ahead of their version of Pipes. Mostly because his arms aren't falling out of the sockets the moment you look at him. But then maybe I've just been lucky and got one that isn't about to fall apart.
Plus loads of accessories. Orange plug on the barrel slid out with no trouble at all, too. So all in all, I think he's great.
BUT - I'm basing my opinion on him from a "never-to-be-transformed display piece" perspective.
Those tight joints are going to either loosen completely or scrape paint off and scratch things the moment you start trying to work them to transform him. I'm expecting things to start snapping and popping off and it's going to be far more hassle than it's worth. The barrel on his back had a protective plastic bag over it that was sealed with tape - trying to get it off left my fingers covered in flecks of metallic paint. Presumably they came from off the tape, but that just raises more questions. It's an alarm bell, is all I'm saying.
And I fully expect the gun mode to be rubbish anyway.
So, er, yeah. If you've got the funds to justify it and are solely interested in it for displaying in robot mode, crack on. Just don't blame me if his arms and head fall off when you're taking him out of the box.

Grrr. Argh.

I still haven't taken him out of the package. But he looks great!
