HOT TOP 10

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

HOT TOP 10

Post by bumblemusprime » Wed May 07, 2014 6:14 pm

What's your top 10 on iTunes right now? Let's have a big fat music thread again.

I got:

1. Misfits & Lovers - The Wallflowers - no ******* kidding, you guys, this one is in the league with "One Headlight" and their early stuff and beyond - look it up!

2. Temporary - White Rabbits - cool little Brooklyn band

3. The Siren Sings - The Anniversary - band from Lawrence, Kansas that broke up in 2004 but made a hell of a record beforehand. Sounds like early 2000s pop rock crossed with Pink Floyd

4. Hitler Doesn't Own That Mustache - Keaton Collective - local Seattle band with great songs and dumb song names

5. Get in Yr Truck (Shut Yr Door) - Keaton Collective again

6. So He Won't Break - The Black Keys - off Attack & Release, their big breakout album. Nice little gritty ballad.

7. Bed For The Scraping - Fugazi - this song breaks the most punk-rock per second record set by Iggy

8. Snap Out of It - Arctic Monkeys - these guys made a bunch of lukewarm albums and then made a great one in, I think 2013? "AM," it's called.

9. Gold On The Ceiling - The Black Keys - I am guilty guilty guilty of loving the **** out of "El Camino"

10. Cashout - Fugazi - opens their best and most experimental album The Argument, and a really excellent post-punk hybrid with typically Fugazified lyrics about eminent domain and forced eviction

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

3. Low Level Bondage - I Need A New Freezer
4. Polite Vinegar - Customary Greeting
5. Misplaced Candle - Sinister Footsteps
6. Impossible Levels of Curiosity - Those Flowers Are Dead You Should Thrown Them Out (instrumental version)
7. The Stairs to Nowhere - Oh Actually It's The Basement
8. Dismembered Cat - Buy This Record And You Will Die
9. Vomit - Why is Your Head So Big? Not Metaphorically
10. Seriously It's Just Toothpaste - Might Buy Some Bread Today

Ten songs that I've been playing the **** out of for the past month. A link for the lucky bastards that use Spotify. :)

Mø feat. Diplo - XXX 88. Danish singer Mø with Diplo (from Major Lazer). Pop it up!

The Coup - Cars and Shoes. I've had four cars so far, all of them crappy in some way. But still, "my car is better than yo' shoes". Hip hop from Oakland, yo.

Frank Zappa - Uncle Remus. One of my favourite Zappa songs.

Meshuggah - The Demon's Name is Surveillance. Swedish extreme metal and one of my favourite bands.

Markus Krunegård - Ibland gör man rätt, ibland gör man fel. "Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get it wrong". A song about being young and filled with hope and dreaming about being somewhere/someone else, and the stupid mistakes you make which then fills you with anxiety (like when you steal your friends girlfriend).

Labyrint - Chilla lide. Swedish hip hop about the importance of relaxing (seasoned with a hint of social realism).

The Hellacopters - By the Grace of God. Swedish rock n' roll with the legendary Nicke Andersson on song and guitar!

Fiona Apple - Not About Love. Fiona is super cool - and the video features Zach Galifianakis. Win Win!

Babyshambles - Nothing Comes to Nothing. Pete is back and I'm loving it.

Major Lazer (feat. Peaches and Timberlee) - Scare Me. Lazers kill people and Peaches is ******* awesome. Dance mofo!
Can't believe I'm still here.

I like Not About Love. A lot. Favorite Fiona is still anything off When The Pawn...

The breakdown near the end. Tears every time.

Tears and Ketchup put out some great stuff. I wasn't as crazy about Blood, Tears, Semen and Mayonnaise.

Semen and Mayo were great as a double act but i think the attempted super-group with Blood and Tears backfired in a manner that can only be described as "really backfire-y".

Semen and Mayo obviously better known for his Radio 2 drivetime show nowadays.

I suppose it was natural that they would turn out to be white supremacists.
