ReGeneration One #97

This on the other hand (compared to DC part 5) was an absolute gem.

After the slow start of this series it has really taken off.

Any thoughts on who, or what, has infected Max? The swarm? The matrix? Mega Brain from Combat Colin?

Assume Spike will be needed to bring Max back from the brink.

Kind of hate when new guys turn up and are well hard compared to established people who are well hard but looks like Prime and co are going to strike back.

And i flipping loved that final image. Watch out Jhiaxus - Underbase is gonna get ya.

Hahaha, I wrote up the issue #300 Combat Colin for the wiki recently and had to identify pretty much every CC villain ever - that stretched the old memory a bit, though Mega Brain wasn't amongst them. As regards Max, I think we're dealing with the "dark Matrix energy" that's been trailed a bit this series - that's kind of black and gloopy, right?

Otherwise, this is just mint. It keeps on getting better and better and even now there are surprises. Starscream and Jhiaxus are two of the five? Can't wait to find out what that's all about.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

That was fun! A shame the issues end so quickly.

Love the predatory look for the Gen 2 Cybertronians.

Regen's really good fun isn't it? Probably been the TF book I've most looked forward to for months.

Bit pissed we "lost" issues to the Scorponok arc, cause we've only got 3 issues left now (albeit one is a double size issue) and SF's really hit his stride now.

It would be plain daft to not go back to this universe once 100 comes up - not necessarily saying keep it as an ongoing, you could craft mini after mini set in this universe even after it's done - which would suit the TPB style comics seem to be produced for too.

I'd also like to see some text stories to broaden out events like Bludgeon's invasion etc.

My only concern with that is that it seems that 6 issues is the mandatory length for TF mini-series. I'm afraid that artificial limit could hurt SF and his writing. The man is brilliant at building up story, and it is almost always bittersweet that it all has to get wrapped up in a single issue.

But abandoning the classic Gen 1 universe? That's crazy-talk. I also would not mind a G1 annual or special mini series where there is some G1 and MTMTE crossover. I honestly think you could have quite the philosophical issue of G1 Optimus meeting IDW's more assertive/take charge Optimus.

At the moment I'm looking forward to reading this more than DC. The great thing about Furman is - ok his writing is never spectacular - but you're guaranteed a steady quality that is usually better than average. And yes Guido is totally nailing this.

Damn straight. Guido is rocking the socks off this thing. I would purchase a calendar of all his Regen covers in a heartbeat. He's one of the best at getting the proportions of the characters spot on so that they look great even just standing there.

The issue? Have to say, that had to be one of my all time fav IDW issues there. Everything about it is pure ace. Very excited about Starscream's brush with the Underbase waaaay back when having present day repercussions. Really got a good sense of how powerful Jhiaxus really is, the way he tossed Rodimus around like a ragdoll. Matrix ain't got **** on the guy.

Love seeing my old favs in there, like Jetfire, Tracks, and Skids. I know Regen has succeeded, at least in my mind, in melding with the original Marvel run when I see those guys and think of Buster disassembling Jetfire with his mind and Skids flirting with that chick back in the day. Just feels like it's the same continuity, something I was hoping for. Again, I think a lot of the credit for being able to pull this off goes to Guido's superb 80's style. It's perfect!

And IDW and Hasbro, pay attention. That's Bumblebee. There just ain't no other way of putting it. There's only one real Bumblebee, and that's him.

Still wondering what role Thunderwing is going to play in all of this. Galvatron creeping around. Shockwave's the Ark (strangely cool, this scenario with Shocker's).

Really don't want to see this end. Simon/Guido make the perfect team.

I loved this.

So who's with me in calling for ReGeneration TWO? In which Guido is inked to look like Yaniger!

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Can I just say how amazingly COSMIC that is?

I first encountered Mr. Guidi's art thanks to a link on the original Transfans. Not the .uk or .net versions, but Transfans.com (and, seriously, don't search that out) back in the late 90's.

The gent went on to be the the best artist at Dreamwave (with apologies to DON) and, now, has come full circle to be THE artist on THE continuations of THE comics that lead me "here" in the first place, half a lifetime ago.

What's frustrating is that nary one person on the IDW boards acknowledges Guido's work on this. They praise the story, which is nice, but not so much as a peep for Guido.

So I left my praise. Invite you guys to do the same.
