Looks like we're getting Budiansky Blaster versus the Mayhems on Cybertron, while on Earth Spike is slapping Prime around like a red-headed stepchild before being told to go and put up some shelves or something.
Will probably pick this one up at lunchtime and post a bit more later.

That's more like it. Great stuff.
Prime's Nebulos plan is a bit mad like.
And would have been nice to see Blaster do a bit more, mainly seemed like the Huffer show.
But the sense of foreboding, and that ending. Fantastic.

Now I wish I'd checked to see if they had the Senior cover, because damn, That's some momentum captured right there.
While I'm very happy Marvel Blaster came back and got some time to shine my one wish would have been that when the battle started he had dropped his old-school Marvel visor down. I know that's how Wildman draws him but I was never too fond of his cartoon model myself. Still, he did, er, stumble right into Soundwave's trap and render Cybertron blind to the arrival of Bludgeon. Oh, and Galvatron, newly-resurrected Starscream and the Shockwave/Ark hybrid. It's like some kind of fusion of awesome heroics and catastrophic failure on Blaster's part really. Though it does raise the tantalising prospect of an Ark V Warworld smackdown in space, with Bludgeon's technological terror against the last of the Autobots' Great Arks combined with Shockwave's logical processors. Hm, may have drooled on myself there a little.
Glad that the Prime storyline's finally kicked into gear, and it's good to see him doing what he should do, really, which is be a 'bot of peace. He suits the role of ambassador for Cybertron, trying to make up for past mistakes, mostly his own. And sorta bonding with Spike over the wife, which is sweet. Star of the show was Huffer, though, it's to see some Huffer love.
Though it all still feels weirdly empty - while the same few Autobots and Decepticons show up issue after issue, like Trailbreaker, who seems to be cropping up everywhere lately - the others all seem to be on a roster where they either show up and get killed or show up briefly and then don't appear again. Look - it's the Skyscorchers, who are killed by the Deluxe Insecticons, who are whisked away into a detention sphere, courtesy of the Wreckers. Hey, it's a bunch of reanimated zombies of most of your favourite Decepticons (and a few Autobots too) which are then incinerated from orbit! Most of them are completely indistinct in the crowd scenes, too. Yay, it's Bludgeon's crew of leftover Pretenders and Headmasters - but we spend a few panels with them and then they don't even show up later when we're aboard Bludgeon's ship. Those Micromaster dudes brought up to full size to act as Soundwave's bodyguards...have we even seen them since the one panel they were in? Dreadwind and Darkwing, the Decepticon clones, the Autobot Headmasters, the Ark crew who went back to Earth with Prime, now the Mayhems...it does seem like we are getting to spend time with a lot of characters, but that we're not getting to really know any of them. Don't get me wrong - I like that Furman's utilising the full cast at his disposal and giving them page time, but beyond the "A" cast, I'm having trouble finding characters to latch on to. A few more recurring "B list" characters would really help this, I think.
[edit] Actually, scratch that, this has a Fang cameo. I'm such a sucker for a Fang cameo.

Great moments from Blaster and Huffer. I thought there was some lovely art from Wildman in this too.

Agreed, I really wanted to see this. I mean, would it have been that hard to drop that sucker down. Still, it was awesome to see reference to Marvel 17-18. Kudos to Simon for giving Uncle Bob props on that. While I'm very happy Marvel Blaster came back and got some time to shine my one wish would have been that when the battle started he had dropped his old-school Marvel visor down
So yeah, really enjoying this series now. Something for everyone. Though I'm not very familiar with the Mayhem Attack Squad, I'm glad Simon showcased them. If this series should be anything, it should be a way of reminiscing.
And that last page? Woot!
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
