Just got it.
Yeah, so... satisfying answers all over the place, so damn good to have a comic like this. I walked and read it in a deep trance from FP back to my office.
Frankly, I'm pissed it finished.
So I'm going to read it again, in fact I think I'll [composite word including 'f*ck'] work off this arvo.

The last page is just like ohmygodgivemethenextissue.
Veeeeeeery interesting with regard to Drift.
How much of the crew will be left by the time Tarn and co arrive do you think?
And Prowl is still a dick!
As, on reflection is Bumblebee.

Well...
SPOILERS
If they feature next issue, my theory is they picked up Overlord's signature either because he suddenly "came alive" via the information that Megatron isn't dead, or they couldn't get a reading until he exited the "slow cell"
Of course, there could be some other not yet explained reason, or I could be massively, bollock achingly wrong... that happens from time to time.
But if they do turn up next issue and my theory is right, they'd have either picked up his signal at the end of the this issue when he exits the cell, or half way through - which in real time is about 2.5 days before the end of the issue, but still it would place issues 7/8 and this one quite close together.

Hiw do you stop someone like overlord, even the DJD wouldnt be able to take down overlord?
So, overlords origin is. Essentially tough but not megatron level (liked seeing megs without his helmet on) then they inject this stuff into him,and now overlord is tougher then megs?
So tarn, sixshot and overlord are the most powerfull transformers ever?
Bar the titans, and omega supreme....is the new prowl / devestator thing as tough?

A very small percentage of Transformers are born with some kind of quirk
This quirk allows them to survive this upgrade process (that is performed on Overlord)
Those upgraded Transformers then become Megatron's phase-sixers, but he has the upper hand but having a small bomb implanted in their brain which he can activate.
I'm not sure Omega is especially powerful. He's just big, old and respected.
this was fantastic BTW. Lots of satisfying explanations for stuff and I like the way it tied into RID - I think that Chromedome's memory wipe of Prowl is what made him susceptible to Bombshell's influence.
Issue 16 is going to just be heartbreaking isn't it. I think we will have at least 2 casualties. I personally think Ultra Magnus, Chromedome and Tailgate are for the chop.

Apart from Chromedome being a rather insufferable sod through the first half of this issue (which Overlord pegged as a veil to hide his fear), I think he and Rewind are perhaps the only one's completely safe.
Overlord needs Chromedome to access Shockwave's memories to reveal the off-switch to the Achilles virus. Chromedome may be totally unwilling to do this if Overlord smears Rewind across the floor, so it may pay to keep Rewind alive.
The DJD should be able to take down Overlord if they managed it against Phase Sixer Black Shadow.
I reckon Overlord has to survive in some way, because he needs to meet Megatron, which means the DJD have to fail. I don't know anything about Black Shadow but he worked alone, unlike the DJD, so Overlord being the quick-thinking type will probably get the better of Tarn only by tearing into the other DJD members and sticking Tarn in an unwinnable position.
Also, isn't one of the DJD an undercover Autobot?

I may also be wrong about this but I think it's to do with Red Alert drilling into the slow cell, opening enough of a crack for the DJD to pick up Overlord's energy signature. Which in itself opens up a whole host of possibilities, including what would happen if the time-dilation effect started to leak into the rest of the ship. But I think that sort of tallies with when they left Clemency, maybe with a little bit of leeway for the signal to travel the distance between them, which would give the DJD plenty of time to have been on their trail and potentially quite close.snarl wrote:Of course, there could be some other not yet explained reason, or I could be massively, bollock achingly wrong... that happens from time to time.
So Drift is the man on board ship, eh? Drift and Prowl...have we seen much interaction between them before now? I'm going to have to go back and check when they've been together. And surely this puts Red Alert's decapitation directly at Drift's hands. Roddy's going to go completely Mouse-Poo mental if he finds that out.
Also - yay, Gaurdian droids!
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Was, I reckon...Also, isn't one of the DJD an undercover Autobot?
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crosscut_(Decepticon)
"Crosscut was part of Squadron X, a team of Decepticons which served as a brutal counterpart to the Autobots' Wreckers: his reputation was helped by the fact everyone mistook him for a member of the Decepticon Justice Division."
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crosscut_(Autobot)
And I suspect the presence of Overlord might well trigger something in Skids...

I think Magnus's second expression may come into play. He suspects everyone, so he wouldn't be as betrayed as Rodimus, but he'll sure as hell be pissed off that rules were broken on his watch and that he was taken in. Assuming he's not involved, of course. Him and Prowl were tight in Wreckers.
If the DJD get involved would they necessarily have a problem with Magnus, what with him being the DAOOTTA and all? They do seem to be sticklers for rules and all that, and if the 'Cons are signed up to Tyrest it's possible they'd even respect his jurisdiction as long as he didn't try to prevent them from taking Overlord. Hm, this could get enormously messy.

But if Shockwave has deactivated the killswitch (and he must’ve done, otherwise Overlord wouldn’t have let him leave Garrus 9), then there’s no purpose in Overlord leaving Chromedome alive, seeing as he’d have no further use for Mnemonics.
Maybe Shockwave fooled Overlord, perhaps we’ll see how in a flashback scene in an upcoming issue?
Maybe the killswitch issue will work as a ‘did he or didn’t he’ deactivate it, and that’ll come into play in a final showdown against Megatron. The series has established that Overlord, free of the achilles virus, should be able to trounce Megatron and anyone else.
The interesting thing is, Rossum talks in this issue about how super-tough Overlord is now he’s coated/integrated with this Ununtrium material. Yet in LSotW, Impactor had his eye out with a harpoon, and Perceptor blew Overlord’s hand/wrist off with his sharpshooter rifle.
So how tough is tough? And if the Autobots have remade his body because that’s a nice, Autobotty thing to do, how could they recreate the super toughness without the Ununtrium... Rossum says the material has attached itself to the endoskeleton, well Overlords hand/wrist is part of that endoskeleton and yet it got shot off.
Something funny is going on here. James Roberts wouldn’t be getting stuff like this wrong. There’s a good explanation somewhere, one we’re not aware of yet?
[Edit] @Death's Head: I found another page on the Wiki that mentions Valve as a founding member of the Wreckers who defected and became leader of Squadron X before Macabre. It also references the text story 'Zero Point', saying 'Later Wreckers preferred to forget his (Valve) still being alive when considering the fact that all of the founding members of the Wreckers were dead'.
I guess there is no evidence to suggest Valve is now part of the DJD, but it doesn't mention Crosscut as part of the DJD either. I was wondering if it was Sandstorm who was undercover. He's pretty much the only one of whom we don't really know the whereabouts. Roadbusters' not really around, but no-ones said he's left the Autobots/Wreckers either.

My main train of thought regarding the Crosscut connection is that the only other robot called Crosscut, apart from the Decepticon, is a body-double for Skids. Skids mention of remembering music several issues back also ties in to Tarn. His posession of a 'binary gun', perhaps that shoots messages into Autobot symbols, seals the deal for me.
Excellent issue again.
I think it'd be interesting though if next issue Magnus saves the day because of his being anal all the time. The whole series bots have been poking fun at his being a stickler about everything, but being a stickler also means being more aware than everyone else too. The other bots might regret having ever mocked the Big M given they have likely the greatest Decepticon menace they could ever face on a rampage aboard their ship.
Or... he might just get a big hole punched through his torso.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
