Okay, raise your hand if you can figure out what the point of this mess is, 'cause I sure can't. The little buggers continue to bleed together in this rather incoherant quagmire. The only I can ever recognize is Big Daddy, owner of quite possibly the most inappropriate name in TF history. The situation with the Insecticons was weird, seeing as the large TFs got defeated by someone in what would basically be a toy tank. One minute the Insecticons are there, the next, they hightail it. Funky. Not sure what the deal is with Countdown, or if I should even bother to care. The entire scene in the....I guess that's a bar....made my eyes hurt trying to figure out what was going on. Was everyone arm wrestling in there, or what? And the race......huh? Wha? Then we have the 'menacing' arrival of the Decepticon that Countdown reportedly defeated. I would feel a bit of dread if the guy couldn't be used a TF brand football.
As a side note, the DW letters pages are still a disgrace, and this one was a doozy. Do they just have monkeys write in?

I will upload the scans ASAP, but the TCA where I'm hosting them is down for days, sadly.
Anyway, I enjoyed it. But i can see why people who don'T know the Micros have trouble with it. The art is so horrid, even I could hardly tell who is who. And I've grown up on these toys!
Right now I'm busy as our home is being redecorated, but I'll write a full review (like last time) next week.
My only gripe with the issue was that Skystalker is only introduced in the end of the 2. issue... which leaves him little time. I just hope DW doesn'T cancel the series, I'm really interested what Countdown found (to mee it seems it's as I always believed, Primus created the TFs not just to combat UNi, but to mantain peace throughout the UNiverse.)
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)
I thought it was utter crap.
The art is disgusting, the final panel with those two random decepticon micros made me cringe, they adopt the pat lee having a **** posture. They all look fat and bulky, the are too many panels so the pages feel squished up. It would probably be better if they just simplified the actual character models, instead of putting so much pointless details on them.
and the dialogue is truly shocking...
its a shame, there is much potential for somthing like this, and you can see that the ideas are there, but the execution is shoddy...

my only real problem with the series is the art. doesn't Pat Lee know by now that the majority of readers dispise the "inflated/ absurd porportions" look? i'm apalled at the fact that he even considers taking on proteges like Rob Ruffolo. maybe we should start mailing DW or something. maybe start a petition of sorts to bring the more excellent artists (like Raiz), to the forefront.
i'm fine with the story. i'm betting that Countdown's plan has something to do with the Golden Disc from Earth, since on one of issue 1's covers we see him and Skystalker fighting over it. if not, i'll be a tad disappointed. it'd be like they were teasing us or something.

unf. There is so much wrong with this comic.
The art is a given. appalling - like BB i'ma big micro fan and i am really struggling to recognise some of these guys. The panal layout is terrible, i kept reading the wrong ones - abysmal. And the sense of movement - those insecticon's leaping into the air - haha! Jesus.
The attemtps to give the micro's their own slang, while a nice idea varies so wildly in its execution that several times i couldn't tell what they mean, but hey, this is DW, so maybe there are just some speech bubbles missing. Or maybe McMick will have Shockwave tell us all what they were saying on the last page.
The plot is also stuttering - why waste so much panal time on the race when there is apparently a much more signifcant plot that now needs to be fed into 2 issues? Of course this plot could have been on its way if Magnus had just told countdown what was going on in issue 1 like any normal being would. "Er...something happened, but i'm not going to mention what cos we ar esaving that for issue 4" (of volume 7 knowing Mick).
Oh - and big daddy doesn't wn the race cos somehow he doesn't look where he is going? what the hell?
utter bollocks.

A DW #1 cover with no relevance to the actual plot? A shocking allegation, and one that surely has no basis in fact.XbludgeonX wrote:since on one of issue 1's covers we see him and Skystalker fighting over it. if not, i'll be a tad disappointed. it'd be like they were teasing us or something.
I have no idea what's going on in the comic, as I've not read it (tried to read #1, had no clue what was going on [not storywise - art wise] so gave up), but I can tell you what will happen:
#1 - 5: Not much happens. A few insinuations at things to come. Slow paced.
#6: Writer realises it's the last issue of the mini-series. Big info dump that nobody can understand. Stormcloud did it. And I feel smug about not having bothered.
Yay me.
Grrr. Argh.

Sooo, does that mean the mini-series will be nothing but slow-paced insinuations?Ozz wrote:It's a four issue mini.Brendocon wrote:#1 - 5: Not much happens. A few insinuations at things to come. Slow paced.

I wrote a kind of panel-by-panel lighte dissection of this ish for some people who were having problems with it, I tried to be vaguely objective but it kinda tails off into dejected sarcasm quite quickly....
Anyway, this might be helpful for identification purposes:

Spelling mistakes and profanity crept in after I got bored, I'm afraid.

good work KM.
few things I noticed:
Chop Shop ha already appeared in WW V1 (in the assault on Iacon) with a Cybertronian form, as designed by Don, clearly this was too much effort to reproduce... all down to vector Sigma no doubt.
The guy at the door is Road Burner of the Metro Squad (almost sure – he should have a red bucket on his back but as we all know Ruff doesn't like drawing details on their backs – Flankers rear view is hilarious)
in the 'bar scene';
mudslinger not mudguard.
That's Tote, not Growl.
I think the yellow guy hurling stuff is Slow Poke of the Monster Truck Patrol, he appear in the crowd shot at the start of the race as well, although I think you have him down as Motor Head.
Fairly certain that is Airwave – the colours match (which is about the only thing you can go on...ffs), Hot house's colours are kinda reversed.
the tattoo he is getting is the Japanese blendatron logo - these guys were all heralds of Unicron so it seems a pretty ****ed up tattoo to be getting, even for a so called rebellious group.
Love the way they use a chequerd flag, like...on...earth. lazy muppets

I can't believe I didn't notice that. That makes me feel angry and tired.KingMob wrote:Detour and someone I can’t make out (thanks to the generibot back) are throwning…green bogey-stuff, I guess…at the poster of Prime and Megs. G1 earth-design Prime and Megs. Yes. I know that makes no sense. Well, unless the crew of the Ark and Nemesis all got Vector Sigma to re-design their bodies before they left or something equally as lame.
Props for the review!
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Good news!
Micromasters didn't sell just 15,000 copies. The numbers from July are in and here they are:
#70 43.09 ** TRANSFORMERS MICROMASTERS #1 (Of 4)*
In other words, it placed 70 on Diamonds Top 300 hundred list, with about approximately 30,000 more copies sold.
Thats brings the total number of issues of Micromasters #1 to between 45,000 to 50,000 copies sold.
Making it the top selling DW comic, ahead of even the ongoing
