Windows 7 "not responding"

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Windows 7 "not responding"

Post by The Last Autobot » Tue Jan 25, 2011 4:12 am

Anyone having problems with Windows 7 recently?

Apps (office and all the rest) and explorer-chrome keep showing "not responding". It just pops that and a couple seconds later everything is fine.

Looking around different websites Ive seen that is something fairly common.

Any suggestions?

None so far, they'll probably fix it when the next SP comes out.

I'd recommend using performance monitor (perfmon) and running some diagnostics and performance stats. Also try the reliability monitor and resource monitor.

W7 is normally rock solid, so it sounds like either a software/hardware bottleneck.

You might find a particular driver is misbehaving or blocking the system.
