... you woke up tomorrow and it was 2007. Furman is still on Transformers but you know what's coming.

What would/could you do?

Skip over to the IDW board and post the pitch for AHM so that they can't use it without breaching your intellectual property?

So, do we know lottery results as well?

I can tell you every lottery result for 2007 if you're interested.

I think my only TF comic related advice at that time would have been for myself and would have suggested not bothering reading the next two years.

*smirk*

To be fair, Brend's idea only kills AHM as was. The other challenge is convincing IDW not to mess with what they have, killing All Hail Marysue doesn't destroy the notion that they want to do something different.

So i think we need to take the hit and persuade everyone to start buying 2 copies of each issue. Or possibly an income based scale;

Up to £20k - 2 copies
20-50k - 3 copies
50-100k - 5 copies
100K + - 10 copies

Gotta spread the load.

Plus all xmas and brithday presents from here on in are Furman IDW TF TPBs, including your 3 year old niece.

I suspect what *I* would do, would involve strolling down to certain freezer rooms in the labs on my next workday, and then going out to buy envelopes on my lunch break...

Or perhaps try to convince someone I know at another publisher "Hey, these McCarthy and Costa guys are REALLY GOOD - you should totally sign them for long term projects, like, RIGHT NOW....."

Who cares about IDW?

I would look for Michael Bay and kill him so his "son" won´t destroy the future and enable the machines to win

Killing AHM itself might not work, but surely Drift could be killed.

On the basis that I couldn't stop IDW from stuffing up eventually without taking over the company and 'restructuring', I would write to Furman and try to persuade him that I really have come from the future and that he needs to better plan how to end his run, so that we can at least take away a complete, unspoiled (or less spoiled) epic.

Saw the solicits for December for IDW.

Only one G1 title. And like three movie-verse titles.

Have they given up? I mean, they have like six G.I. Joe titles.

IDW have become re-publishers. They take old work, and reprint it in different formats over and over again. Look! It's in hard cover now! Now it's in one volume where it used to be two!

That's not what I call progress. The best companies always invest heavily in R and D, not reprinting the same stuff.

Yes, i'm glad, for example, Hasbro didn't just take a load of Japanese toys, remove the drivers and give them different characters.

Where would we be then?

Can I can pitch a script to DC for Batman and whatever else McCarthy did before Transformers? (Not a great deal, I seem to recall)

That way, I'm thinking I could pitch IDW their new direction on Transformers and remove McCarthy from the list of contenders at the same time. Even if I don't get it, they would have to go with someone else anyway.

Who might have been worse. Um.

Let's assume in terms of timelines, we have Earth-McCarthy, Earth-Emvee and Earth-X where each scenario occurs, who would X represent? Mowry? Who else was in the frame?
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I might persuade Furman to write his Mosaic to reflect what we know happened in AHM, etc. rather than whatever grand designs he had.

That way, when IDW snub* him for McCarthy, he'll end up looking prophetic, rather than a chump**.

*This probably isn't how Furman departed G1 duties.
**This probably isn't how Furman felt or was regarded.

I'm am absolutely positive and supremely confident when I say that there are about five or six posters on this board alone that would do a much better job on the Transformers than what we have now.

I place myself amongst them, if you give me the time and a pay check for doing it. BF. Sprunker (though he might channel too much Furman for my tastes). Jack. MV. Probably others.

Snarlz? Well....how many "*" words are allowed in a comic anyway?

For a TF comic, I don't believe there's a limit, but they'd all be turned into slag.

The word. Not, y'know, foundry waste.

Which gives me an idea for the word censor...

Ha! Excellent. If only it were so easy to reprint G1 Shockwave...

True, but you'd need to take out Orzi and Kurtzman as well, or whatever those two chaps call themselves. ALTHOUGH it could certainly be argued that the success of The Movie (and the comics thereafter) is an important reason why IDW has taken the tack they have with the comics, ie the G1 stuff is backburner bull where we throw s*** against the wall to see what sticks.

I was saying since 2004 that Neill Blomkamp should have got the new TF films..... Can we adapt MV's plan here, and systematically eliminate half of hollywood to fix the future?

Am I allowed to use the idea I had way before Costa about a dictatorship employing Decepticons?

My idea was much better.

I still think that my idea for making Sunstreaker one of Unicrons heralds in the Armada Universe (after the accidental death of Sideswipe) was brilliant.

Transformers prose-iac would be cool.

But much tougher for me than a comic would be. I don't feel I have an extensive enough command of the English language and vocabularly for competent prose work. I think I would be able to tell a story much more competently being able to serve as art director and writer. Too bad we don't have a good TF artist on Transfans.

But I think BF and sprunk, based on their writing skills as comic reviewers, would excel at the prose format as well.

But hey, just might give it a shot.

Dude. Betsy can barely spell his own name. He's an editor's nightmare.

And as such would probably be suited to a job at IDW. Fnyarr.

Ffft, at least i know stuff like, say, Hotrod wasn't a gullable tw@t 13 issus ago and wars don't end because your head guy gets shot, expecially not when you have won everyfink everyplace.

(Hmm. Actually, there's an idea in that.)

On that basis, if anything, i am overqualified to edit the IDW continuity by virtue of paying attention to stuff.*

And i can mostly spell and everything.

I just don't think you guys deserve the level of attention that merits proper typing, that's all.

This is after all just a cheap distraction from work yeah? Like i am going to double check that i hit the right keys and whatnot. I'd probably actually spellcheck stuff if i was getting paid for it. Although, i ; don't "really", understand, grammer..

In terms of continiuity for a prose off - i'd say where ever you like, whatever you like, the only restriction i would suggest is a word count so that no one goes mental. It's not like i have an attention span these

Another option would be random character allocation - everyone nominates who everyone else has to write about? e.g Brend has to write about Fangry.

Worst case i'll just republish Alas Poor Hotspot anyhoo.

*ol' Schmidt for Brains seems like a decent chap in fairness and is saying a lot of the right things (mostly), but historically there have been some pretty glaring clustercraps since the AHM era began.

Maybe we should do this like improv.

One paragraph per poster, covering about two to three issues of material, starting just at the end of Revelations. As with improv comedy, you can't just shut stuff down. No matter how bad or asinine you think it is, you have to roll with it and try to improve it in your paragraph.

There have been something like six trades since Max Dinos... so what is that, about forty issues? So we would need about twenty posts. Everyone who wants to participate can sign up and that way we can rotate the list when we reach the end of it.

Anyone up? Or is this just too orderly for Transfans?
