I did that after my initial toy "purge" a few years back, as well. I find I'm a bit more laid back about the collecting now... i.e. this time around I'm not willing to plunk down ridiculous amounts of cash for a brick. The Animated or movie stuff, though? Not until after I've read a few reviews first, or have seen it and liked it at my brother's place. Pretty much the only ones that have been exempt from that are the Animated Dinobots.

Yes - on initial inspection they are very good - some parts are even die cast.
There are a few differences that are apparent up front;
Rub signs need to be applied (and don't work)
Some standard stickers are missing (i.e ones that would have come factory applied - e.g the black triangles on Sunstreakers doors)
Springer is a bit top heavy as his nose cone is metal but you can affect a cool look with him resting on his sword that balances it out - yes i said cool in relation to a green and yellow brick with a sword.
I do get the impression that things like the pins in joints are not as well set and therefore if they were subject to the level of play that my originals have been subject to they would probably not stand up to constant transforming from mode to mode but as display models they are more then adequate to be honest.

Did you get these from a guy called ravage point? I have bought a few knock offs from him, most very good quality. Shockwave is as near as damn it spot on. Tight joints, holds it's weight, metal parts. The only duff one I have is cyclonus, which has moulding issues, manual spelling mistakes, and stickers which you need to cut out yourself in places.
Oddly despite all my rub signs being loose, they all work, so maybe you got a bad one. That said vie not opened springer, so maybe thats unique to him.
