Bah. So if anyone didn't know, I managed to stay on the IDW forums after my last unjustified banning by switching user accounts. Since then I've mostly stayed clear of trouble while still trying to keep the flame of truth burning in the homelands and without cosying up to the admins or disappearing in a puff of smoke whenever they thunder in to take control of the situation.
Apparently DJT had no idea, despite it being pretty obvious (what with Skwege constantly calling me JACK) that Galileo was Jack Cade, and has only just been tipped off by some anonymous source, whereupon he has deleted that account too. Not because I'd been stirring anything up this time, but simply, one supposes, out of spite.
I've attempted to enter into a civil discussion with him via email but after one terse reply, I've got nowt. Maybe he clocked off and will reply later, but it would fit his previous pattern to refuse to be drawn into any discussion about the rights and wrongs of the situation.
I'm not sure I even wanna buy Nick's book now, let alone the others. I guess I should, because he's cool and a good writer, but everything IDW-related is going to be rather soured by this bad attitude of theirs. I honestly thought - or wanted to believe - there was some effort being made towards reconciliation with disgruntled readers. Once again, cynicism would've been the better course.

You...you were Galileo?
It's pretty bad when Transfans gives you a second chance, and IDW doesn't.
I mean some pretty mean and offensive things have been said on this board, and still those people post here.
(Except for Commander Shockwav. He deserved no mercy.)

Yeah, yeah, I've got to buy the Roche series at the very least. Maybe I'll burn off the IDW label in a witchy ritual or something!
Mebbe I can make a juicy conspiracy theory out of this. Seems awfully convenient that DJT 'found out' about who I was on the eve of what he no doubt hopes will be a resurrection of unquestioning love of all things TF. Maybe he fondly remembers how many of my crits of early AHM issues/previews prompted cries of "Exactly!", followed by churlish insults from the faithful.

You can always sign up with a NEW alter-ego!
Eventually though they'll introduce some sort of 'Jack Cade' filtering system on forum membership - say an IQ test, or maybe a 'happy-clappy' questionnaire to ensure you love all things IDW, no matter how ****** the latest issue is.
I gave up on the IDW boards long ago - way too much politics and the fact that they let their pet little **** Skwege hang around speaks volumes for their ethics on running the board.

Hey guys, play the ball not the pitcher yeah?
I mean, we all love Transformers right?
So let’s all just be nice about stuff.
Obviously though you can still be critical.
Just be sure to bury your criticism in as euphemistic as possible language so you don't upset anyone. So don't say, "I thought it was dreadful", say "I personally did not enjoy it but I can see that other people might have enjoyed it and I imagine the writer has a kind face"
And be constructive in your criticism, by which I mean to say I want you to dissect your own criticism to the point where it is essentially meaningless and easy to ignore. If you are negative about something why not caveat your post by pointing out that you only represent the views of 1 person in 6.6 billion? I don't think its necessary to do this if you like book though, in that case i think its far safer to assume you are the representative opinion.
And try not to post a critical post straight after another critical post - this may lead to an impression that there is an overly negative view of the book and even if all the comments are well reasoned will lead to me interrupting the debate to tell everyone to be constructive which will derail the topic and actually usually result in less constructive comments as those possessed of a strange blind faith towards all things IDW jump on the bandwagon and start haranguing more coherent posters and then I can claim the topic has turned nasty and lock it. When I do that you know it will be your fault as I told you to be nice and constructive and you just didn't listen. You silly billys.
And overall, guys, guys, rememeber its just a comic, so don't go getting passionate about it, especially not on a forum specifically set up to discuss one specific thing that you are passionate about.

*sigh* Once again, Best First has to step into a thread personally because some people couldn't play nice with each other.
Absolutely. That's the most sensible thing I've read all day.Best First wrote:Hey guys, play the ball not the pitcher yeah?

Best First - will there be a comic about Bluestreak soon?Best First wrote:And be constructive in your criticism, by which I mean to say I want you to dissect your own criticism to the point where it is essentially meaningless and easy to ignore. IDW hasn't failed us yet. I can't wait for what's next.Best First wrote:I don't think its necessary to do this if you like book though, in that case i think its far safer to assume you are the representative opinion.
Bluestreak should fight Devastator and win.Best First wrote:And try not to post a critical post straight after another critical post - this may lead to an impression that there is an overly negative view of the book and even if all the comments are well reasoned will lead to me interrupting the debate to tell everyone to be constructive which will derail the topic and actually usually result in less constructive comments as those possessed of a strange blind faith towards all things IDW jump on the bandwagon and start haranguing more coherent posters and then I can claim the topic has turned nasty and lock it.
Can you post up some pages from the Bluestreak spotlight soon?Best First wrote:When I do that you know it will be your fault as I told you to be nice and constructive and you just didn't listen. You silly billys.
KJ is a jerk. Jack Cade should be hit on the head lots of times. I'm sorry but it's true. Thanks for posting, Best First! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the Bluestreak ongoing!Best First wrote:And overall, guys, guys, rememeber its just a comic, so don't go getting passionate about it, especially not on a forum specifically set up to discuss one specific thing that you are passionate about.

The greatest IDW board quote ever, from one of the moderators:
"What is up with all these pissy name-calling dickheads?"
I haven't seen Skwege on there lately. If he was banned it would be nice poetic justice for the way he told a certain person that another certain person was banned when said person was not.

Who and when? Is that recent?bumblemusprime wrote:"What is up with all these pissy name-calling dickheads?"
It's a more extreme version of a recent DJT quote where he said to zhingaah something like: "Care to explain yourself - or are you just trying to get another dig in at AHM? Let's not get personal."

So, AHM is a personal prized posession of IDW Moderators? Who, for most of the part, are not even IDW employees (right?)
Bah.
I was always tempted to register there during the Furman "Golden days" but now I'm glad I never did it. Sounds like the place has more bootlickers then Don Murphy's board...
You know, the old DW board was never this bad, and Pat Lee WAS an egomaniac. Yet, you could criticise his art there without the mods coming down on you like a swooping Divebomb. Remember those days, Commander Sh... I mean, Yaya?

Don't you remember me? I'm shocked... Especially my (in vain) tries to get StarscreamG1 to like Furman. Wonder what she's doing now...
I was first there as Shockwave, then took the name BB Shockwave after the forum reboot since someone already took my name...

I do remember you now, under the Shockwave name. I thought the BB part came with IDW. It all blends together. Like the War Within and Megatron Origin and the Blurr spotlight.BB Shockwave wrote:Don't you remember me? I'm shocked... Especially my (in vain) tries to get StarscreamG1 to like Furman. Yeah, I often wonder where StarscreamG1 is and how she has fared in the world.
To be honest, the only other members I remember were her, Denyer, and some guy called CharlesRB.

The BB came after the Big Bertha version of Shocky, from the DW GI Joe crossover (the WWII one).Yaya wrote: I do remember you now, under the Shockwave name. I thought the BB part came with IDW. It all blends together. Like the War Within and Megatron Origin and the Blurr spotlight.

Yep, I remember Denyer was there too... not much else, though.
