Christian Bale

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I laughed when I read the story.

I lost it when I heard the audio.

I... yeah, you get it.

In a similar vein... I'd never seen David O'Russell's tizzy at Lily Tomlin before...

I was expecting something with TDK footage to be honest... heck that one point it sounded like he said 'stfu Bruce'.

Wow. What an ass.

But I think the thing that bothers me most is the way that pansy ass crew member just meekly stood there and took it. That irks the hell out of me.

I mean, if someone came at me spewing endless F-bombs for five minutes straight, I'm pretty sure around the fourth minute or so I would have pummeled the **** out of the guy and uttered something like "what's a matter, did your balls drop off?"

I'm hearing all sort of crap like "do you know how stressed these actors are on the set?" and "acting's tough, the guy should have respected that".

Listen. I operate on peoples eye's. And you want to tell me shooting a scene of a Hollywood movie is "stress-inducing" to the point of that kind of behavior? Feck that ****. I have never went off on O.R. staff like that. Never will.

Bale is ****. That crew member is worse than ****.

Hmm.

So, you would rather escalate an obviously tense situation to violence, than try to defuse it.

Go you, hero.

Hey, what can I say. That was just one too many "f#cks" my direction.

You don't care for me much, do you Blebis? Hmmm.

To perpetuate the meme, my nametag would read 'Rebis' if I felt any requirement to react, which I do not.

What I wanna know is, who's directing the movie, Bale or McG? Cause the latter needs to grow some balls.

Anybody else think that they'd pick another eye doctor if they knew that theirs would like to assault and then mock a co-worker?

Yeah, cause doctors should be saints.

I think I'd rather go with a doctor that's good at what he does and cares for his patients. If he takes out Batman on his off time, more power to em.

Guess nobody got the "what's a matter, did your balls drop off?" joke reference to the Joker in The Dark Knight.

Are the only two options "saint" and "assailant"? Does that mean that everyone who doesn't commit physical assault is a saint?

I got it. I just didn't think it was funny.

Somebody yells at you and you want to attack them. How's that religion of peace treating you?

I don't deny the better action is to walk away.

But I'm not a religion. I'm a human being.

If Bale laid into me that way, I can assure you I wouldn't stand there apologizing like a wuss for five minutes.

If you are saying you would just walk away, you're a better man than me.

The guy screwed up and got yelled at. Nobody's going to say that the tirade wasn't overkill (including Bale himself who apologized), but it was still just words.

If you screwed up some guy's eye surgery and he was pissed, would you punch him out?

As for my part, I'm not in junior high anymore. Violence is never an acceptable solution to a problem. If I screw up, you can scream at me until your blue in the face and I won't lay a hand on you.

Let me clarify for you why this episode by Bale irks me so much.

Those placed in a position of power should respect those below them. In other words, those placed in a position of power should not let it get to their heads to the point where they disrespect and trample on the rights of others.

As I said, when I'm doing surgery, pretty much everyone has to do what I say in the room. But that shouldn't mean do or say whatever I feel like. I see surgeons all the time tearing into the OR nurses to the point of bringing them to tears, simply because the nurses could not read their minds or be perfect.

I have little tolerance for that. And that's in an operating room. Where things are a matter of life or death, or sight or blindness.

This was the set of a ****** Hollywood movie.

I truly wish, for Bale's sake, that crewman tussled with him. Or at least threatened him. Sometimes, people in authority have to learn the hard way, that just because someone is below you doesn't give you the right to act like an ass.

If it were just some guy in the street yelling those things at me, it wouldn't bother me a bit.
If you screwed up some guy's eye surgery and he was pissed, would you punch him out?
How is this in any way analogous to some jackass yelling on a movie set?

If I screwed up on some guy's eye, I wouldn't sleep for weeks, and would probably let him punch me in the eye.
As for my part, I'm not in junior high anymore. Violence is never an acceptable solution to a problem. If I screw up, you can scream at me until your blue in the face and I won't lay a hand on you.
Good for you. Like I said, obviously, this would be taking the higher road.

But I can't stand idly by listening to people say Bale was stressed and had every right to tear into the man. Please. Defending a man who, for literally five minutes straight, cursed a stagehand who apologized a million times?

Those kind of statements right there make it all too clear why people worship Hollywood and turn on their TV to see if Johnny Depp farted today or not.

Much like there is a huge difference between "saint" and "assailant," there's a huge difference between "thinking that he's an ass" and "punching him out." The issue here is violence.

When you see other doctors screaming at nurses, do you punch them? Or do you reserve such violent thoughts for actors safely on the other side of the internet?"

Bale has nothing on Klaus Kinski!
Klaus is not satisfied with the food that's being served.
The director, Werner Herzog (Herzog and Kinski knew each other for many many years and made five, I think, movies together): I didn't bother to interfere, because Kinski, compared with his previous outbreaks seemed rather mild.

The indians later offered to kill Kinski.

"In the 1950s, when Werner Herzog was 13, he was sharing an apartment with Klaus Kinski. In an unabated, 48 hour fit of rage, Kinski destroyed every piece of furniture in sight."

He's interesting.
