Rhino lost the rights the G1.. Sony has rights now?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Sony had them briefly when the did the 20th Ann. DVD in '06. They announced the would do new DVD box sets of the G1 series (it was a special feature clip on the 20th DVD), but later cancelled it and hasbro go the rights back.

I think Hasbro has tried getting all there older IPs back like GI Joe to have control over future DVD distribution. I think they've been asked about and gave the usual "no comment" or nothing in the works right now statement, but I wouldn't be surprised if by the them the 2nd Movie is out on DVD/BD or sometime between then and the 3rd movie, that hey would release some new sets. It would make sense to do some Boxsets around the time the movies are out since thats when TF is most popular with the general public and would most likely get the most sales.

Awe really? Ya it would make sense that they launch some box sets round the time of the next TF's.. i'm hopin sooner but that would rock! I just want season 3. :( crappy thing is I saw all the season 3 eps released by Rhino at suncoast but I didn't have to much to spare and figured i'd get it next paycheck... next paycheck came went to grab it and all the TF box sets were gone. :( They stopped sellin them. /cry $%#damnit! :x

Yeah they seemed to have a real low production run on them. I usually grabbed them from Circuit City/Best Buy when they first can out and would almost never see them again afterward when I thought to look.
