Dissertation acknowledgement

has anyone written an acknowledgement page? i was wondering what the format of these pages is?

Im at the end of my paper and need to add one of these pages, I have a number of ppl id like to thank, and would like to dedicate it to my child, which might not be good as I dont even know the sex yet, seems a shame tho...

any help would be most appreciated
