Is there anything better than Lego?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Seriously? I now have a six year old boy (via a legitimate relationship, not some internet/credit card noncery), and I've given him most of my old toys, including my Lego which I have had so much fun remaking for him. Apart from the Star Wars stuff which I love, he has my old 80's castle stuff which is just awesome-it's great fun to build and looks cool too-I really do think it may be the best toy ever invented. Since then we've got him Mars Mission stuff, Exo Force (the Sentai Fortress is amazing), Dino 2010 (the helicopter is tops)...we're fast running out of room.

My nostalgic nerdery has been heightened by finding the Lego Digital Designer that you can download from their website-the selection of pieces is nowhere near their full range, but you can design whatever you like (the software while not perfect is really easy to use), and as you go along it adds up the cost so that you can submit it and have them send it to you! I'm currently designing a Resident Evil style zombie research facility.

So then-Lego: your thoughts?

As a note to our brethren in the US-there is no plural for Lego. 'Legos' do not exist-k? ;)

Hey Pissin'! :)

I like the fact that Lego is indestructible. If Hitler had Lego tanks he'd win the war.

A year ago I built a small castle for my girlfriends stuffed animal "Doctor Cat". It had a hidden treasury, a trap door, a canon tower and other things that castles usually have.

I'd like to build a whole Lego town. Just like, fill a whole room with houses, parking lots and Lego dudes. That'd be really sweet.

EDIT: Lets have a Lego contest? We'll have a "topic/theme of the month" like "ants" or something. Then we'll all build something with that topic/theme in our minds. And then we'll vote, or something. And have like a "Transfans league".

****, it's nerdy as hell, but I'm going all in baby!
Can't believe I'm still here.

I love that idea Ob. I used to be a Lego(mainly Bionicle) nut and I have three drawers, two shoe boxes, and Armada Unicron's box full of Lego. I'd love a good reason to dig it all out. :D

I bet Aaron's Lego senses are tingling about now.

This summer past, me and the ex went to the Lego shop in Brighton and spent about 20 minutes nestled amongst very small children, rummaging for arms and legs for Lego skeletons in the minifig bin. My buddy Matt also bought me one of the Exo-force robots for my birthday, my mom got me a Bionicle...

...and I still have all my 80's space Lego somewhere, made up into the original sets (I was that nerdy kid who saved all the instructions). Hmmm...I'm visiting the Midlands soon :D
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I have a box filled with instructions that are in perfect condition! I was super organized as a child. Never lost anything, never broke anything.

Sounds all right. I got mostly Technic and Bionicle elements here, and some from the System, a scarce few minifigs and some rare stuf - the fully poseable 5-inch Technic figures, and one mouse-dude from the yey-old Fabuland line. Doubt anyone'd remember that though...

I LOOOOOVED Lego as a kid. I had a whole bunch of M-Tron when I was a kid. I'd follow the instructions once, and then I'd just throw 'em in with the rest and make a new ship on the fly every time.

I also had a friend who had Cystic Fibrosis that got to be part of Make A Wish, and his wish was the entire Futron set (this is around 90 I think), which had the fancy monorail and all that jazz. It was quite fun to break open all of that the first time.

Since then, whenever I feel a nostalgic tug to buy some Lego when I'm at the local Big Box, I'm always flabbergasted to find just how f***ing expensive those bastards are these days.

Best thing for me after making loads of stuff out of lego was then smashing everything up afterwards.

I'm afraid I was one of those kids.

I think lego was recently voted the best toy ever. Transformers have something in common with it - ingenuity.

I have a 3ft long, 1'1/2ft deep storage box filled to the top with legos.

I have quite the impressive collection, looking back I feel bad that my parents spent so much money on little pieces of plastic enjoyment.

That's precisely why I prowl the flea markets mostly for my Lego. Then again that's how I came across those Technic figures, so no complaints from me.

So how about that contest then? We could also do it like some of the other threads, first person names something and the next person builds it, then names what the third will build and so on.
