Bluetooth and Vista

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Bluetooth and Vista

Post by Pissin' Poonani » Sat Feb 02, 2008 5:34 pm

Hello! Just need to pick the brains of you clever types once again.

Basically, I can bluetooth from my phone (sony w880i) to my laptop, but can't figure out how to transfer music and stuff from my laptop to my phone. Any ideas?

Cheersey :)

Wish i could help PP... But I can't even get bluetooth drivers to install on my Vista installation, it just bluescreens the whole sherbang...

but on XP... well my bluetooth adapter came with a program called BlueSoleil, which is a handy little bluetooth interface that allows me to transfer files back and forth and so on (which also craps out my Vista installation, except (amazing enough) the version i have to pay for...hmmm)

There's a simply equation that answers any questions you may have about such matters. I went from being computer illiterate to tech-savvy after memorizing it.

Anything + Vista = FAIL

Heheh,
Although to be fair, recent updates have made it much more stable and usable, the only problems i have with my version if it now are the previously mentioned Bluetooth problem and a bit of an odd problem with my copy of Nero...

the bigger problem with what your trying to do isnt Vista but Sony insisting that u use thier transfer software.

Which i why i bypass that whole saga and just transfer stuff straight onto/off of the phone's memory stick in by 4billion-in-one adaptor thingies... much quicker than bluetooth or usb ;-)

Memory stick?? [composite word including 'f*ck'] that hassle!

I never put **** on my phone. I've got dedicated devices for my various media, that I probably wasted my money on by not using... Umm...

I agree, its just that your average user doesnt realise they can bypass such events.

My dad got a Sony MP3 player for xmass, and didnt realise he could use iTunes with the device, so he installed the sony software, and ended up with both iTunes and the Sony software on his computer... oh dear.
