Heath Ledger is found dead in US
Heath Ledger
Brokeback Mountain earned Ledger numerous award nominations
Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, a New York Police Department spokesman has said.
"He was found unconscious at the apartment and pronounced dead," a police spokeswoman said.
Police are investigating whether the Australian actor, who earned an Oscar nomination for 2005 film Brokeback Mountain, died of a drug overdose.
The 28-year-old was found dead in the SoHo flat at around 1530 (2030 GMT).
Police said they did not suspect foul play and that his body had been discovered surrounded by pills.
'Pills'
"We are investigating the possibility of an overdose," police spokesman Paul Browne said. "There were pills within the vicinity of the bed."
Police said he had been due to have a massage at the flat.
The housekeeper went to tell him the masseuse had arrived and found him dead on Tuesday afternoon.
In September the Perth-born actor reportedly split from his girlfriend Michelle Williams, with whom he has a two-year-old daughter, Matilda.
He plays the Joker in the soon-to-be-released Batman film, The Dark Knight.
He also starred in A Knight's Tale and The Patriot, and played a suicidal son in Monster's Ball.

It certainly is unexpected, from the point of view of a bunch of people who have no idea what his day to day life is like.
But in the wake of an addiction to pills and a break up in the past year, it won't be shocking to know that those around him might have known something was coming.
At any rate, Dark Knight is now the most anticipated posthumous theatrical performance since Rebel Without A Cause, I'd wager.

Cinema tickets are fixed prices. I've never seen a single cinema say "oh, well, we're going to charge you more to see this film because it's got somebody dead in it." They're not concert tickets sold on eBay, FFS.
And it sure as hell doesn't affect the retail price of DVDs, either. Well, so long as they're still being made. Which they are. Ledger being dead doesn't magically stop more copies of Brokeback being produced. You might get some idiots trying to hike the prices in the second hand market, but so long as the punter has half a braincell, it won't wash for a second.

You know, so many people dream of becoming Hollywood actors or actresses, and I just can't picture myself in a worse situation.
Movie stars seem like the saddest people, despite appearances.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Well, I guess it must have been hard for him, not being around his daughter so much? Perhaps he didn't have much custody?
I don't know, just trying to make sense of this.
Hmm... if the Joker actually dies in Dark Knight, then I'll probably feel royally mind-f****.
Too bad about his family, and his wee girl in perticular.

Hardly worth the effort if you'd shoot it down anyways, is it?Best First wrote:it would make more sense if it made sense.Aaron Hong wrote:So it'd make more sense with random **** **** decorating all 50 lines of post then? Gotcha.
And not because of my theory that you've all been plotting against me (we all know why that sort of thing doesn't happen here, eh?) but because it's turned into some kind of kneejerk reflex by now, hasn't it?

Hold on a second. You're saying "Why the hell does anybody bother caring?" when a talented human being who was the father to children dies needlessly, yet you seem to care very dearly about me not reading your PM.Leatherneck wrote:Why the hell does anybody bother caring?
And Shanti, I sent you a PM a week or two ago, check it.
I'm not too lazy to check my PM box. I'm just too lazy to change my sig at the drop of a hat when I've got other crap to do.
If anyone is interested, FOR THE RECORD, it seems as though Ronald Reagan did not say my quote. This misconception is based upon the Internet Telephone Effect, according to the info Leatherneck gave me.
If I've sullied anyone's glowing opinions of Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, The New Republic, or Good ol' Boy Social Networking, I apologize.

People always care when random people die. Just look at 9/11 and all the stupid **** people did back then.Leatherneck wrote:Why the hell does anybody bother caring?
Can't believe I'm still here.
What are you on about? Plotting against what? Do you have some sort of warped chriso-fascist agenda like the other toon fans?Aaron Hong wrote:And not because of my theory that you've all been plotting against me
Do you like the fembots?
What?
As the Hulkster might say, "chill out brother" - and we all know Hulk knows best.
Now, dont take this the wrong way, but I got the impression that what you said has simply been construed as being painfully unfunny - not that everybody thinks you're a cock.
Some people might think that as well - I just don't know.
It wasn't unfunny in a bad taste sense either, it just wasn't anywhere near being funny.
Just ******* relax.
