TFs Monopoly

Post by Leatherneck » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:58 pm

Anybody other than me have this? My girlfriend's father got it for me for Christmas, and it's pretty fun... the racecar/thimble/etc are replaced by little pewter figures [3 Autobots and 3 Decepticons], the properties are all TF related [Park Place/Boardwalk are Unicron/Earth], etc... and there's some special rules that you can choose to play.

I actually saw it in Blockbuster the other day, kinda random. They got it out of a catalog.

The art on the box cover might be the coolest part, tbh. It's none of the newer stuff, all G1 [maybe G2?] I do believe.

With all the recent revamps of Monopoly (Here-and-Now anyone? Spider-Man? Freaking SPONGEBOB?!) it wouldn't surprise me if it was new, or fairly recent.

Some interwebs searching showed that it was introduced in May 2007.

Funny that they didn't wait till the movie was out and tie it in with that. I got a look at one of these specialty Monopoly sets (think it was Spider-Man) and it's disappointing that they left the Jail symbol exactly the same. The rest of it was movie screenshots.

Oops.

Saw this in TRU about a month and a bit ago. Must've slipped my mind.

Y'know... I 'get' the idea that they're out to introduce new fans to Monopoly with all these revamps and different editions, but well, I used to play Monopoly myself but I haven't been drawn back into it yet. Maybe because my ability to concentrate has debilitated over the years, I dunno. And all these variatons get excessive after a while. I did pick up the wizard chess set from Harry Potter (used to play less chess than Monopoly though) but that was more for the fun of it really. And my brother Nick is like "paint 'em silver and gold! We HAVE a chessboard anyways! Get another set to keep as-is!"

Can't wait for the clear variant. :)

Just seen TF Monopoly online earlier today, as it happens.

I wonder if I can talk the missus round into getting it? After all, it would be a worthy addition to our weekly game night...*ponder*
