Nothing! IDW are great! Don't complain!
According to the IDW boards anyway.
Its pretty poor IMO - i don't mind the delays as much as i mind the lack of anyone popping up and saying "sorry there is going to be a delay due to printing errors/artist with man flu/Mephisto"
as it stands we now seem to be looking at 6 months or more between series and 6 weeks or more between some issues - it can't be any good for sales (which of course suggests there is a reason for it as its not in IDWs interest to delay so why not just tell us there is a problem).
Not a good start to the year from that perspective.

Yeah, I was hoping it would be in this week's shiplist, but alas no.
Bit dodgy when it's an issue where they've brought in a cover artist... it's not like they can blame Musso's schedule or anything.
Though, in theory, this means that within the space of two weeks we should get two issues of Devastation and the Blaster spotlight.
Can't see that happening, though.
BALLS.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.
I mean, it's the main TF title.
I would have to agree, there are problems afoot, but hopefully, they can be remedied. Clearly, they're having problems holding on to artists.

er, that doesn't logically follow in any way. There has been no suggestion that they have 'lost' any artists.Yaya wrote:Clearly, they're having problems holding on to artists.
Critcism that makes sense please.
Whatever issues they are having though they are compunding in terms of needlessly poor communication.

Yeah, but Paramount had a clause in the contract saying that if Figueroa left, they could too.
... wait. No, that was HD-DVD.
I don't mind waiting three weeks for a comic if it means all the speech bubbles point to the right people... I just like to be told that I'll have to wait, rather than finding out through it being, well, self evident.

I meant 'lost' as in off somewhere doing something else.Best First wrote:one artist does not a trend indicate.Ozz wrote:Didn't they lost Figueora? .
Figueroa-gone
E.J. Su- gone for now
Roche- gone to Who
Milne-crucified by TF fans
Which leaves the likes of Guido and Musso. Which is good, but when you only have two at your disposal, getting the books out on time really depends on them and their schedule.

Considering we've seen his cover for #5 and that issue is due for Jan with #6 in Feb, it's fair to assume he's back on duty.Yaya wrote:E.J. Su- gone for now
Which is an IDW title, so he's not gone from IDW. Which is what you inferred.Roche- gone to Who
Yet drawing the Arcee Spotlight, so hardly run out of town. Yet.Milne-crucified by TF fans
Plus Marcelo Matere. Oh, and Emiliano Santalucia if he sticks around.Which leaves the likes of Guido and Musso.
Despite the fact that we've just established we have five regular artists on the franchise, plus one debutant, and only currently two "main" TF titles now that the Ascending is done. One of which is scheduled to wrap soon.Which is good, but when you only have two at your disposal, getting the books out on time really depends on them and their schedule.
Oh look, your argument just collapsed.
So, one more time with how EJ's paternity leave, Roche doing Who, Fig leaving, Guido covering the Ascending and Milne being crap explains why they're late publishing an issue drawn by Musso?
Grrr. Argh.
Maybe Musso is slow. Or having issues. Which leaves...Brendocon wrote: So, one more time with how EJ's paternity leave, Roche doing Who, Fig leaving, Guido covering the Ascending and Milne being crap explains why they're late publishing an issue drawn by Musso?
I stand by my theory, IDW is hard up for artists ON THE TF right now.
There's the big project. Somebodys got to be working on that.
There's the spotlights. Somebody has got to be working on Blaster and Arcee.
There's "The Thirteen" thing, etc. etc.

Hmmm...I was having trouble following the logic there too.Brendocon wrote:Ah yes. I see how only having two spare pencillers explains why it's been delayed at the printers.Yaya wrote:See? i think that may be due to its absence. To be honest - i welcome this development, JaJa has been talking a reasonable amount of sense of late which made me uncomfortable - its good to have him back to spouting random sweeping statements that make no sense.Metal Vendetta wrote:Hmmm...I was having trouble following the logic there too.Brendocon wrote:Ah yes. Excuse me for being waaaaaay the f*** behind, but why did Fig leave and where did he go?

better to read the IDW topic with a bit more comment than just the interview:

Don & the idw editors provide some context - i'm not sure he has in fact left IDW, he's just off TFs for the forseeable and taking a break.

Nice to actually have some word on it.
In other news, Denyer's a corporate sell-out now.
