Actually, I (and BF) are probably in the minority here in being happy this movie is delayed.
I didn't like the way people were already clamouring for a sequel when the movie was still in the theatres. That's how burn-out happens. Having a second film so close to the first makes a third flick less appealing.
Delays are a great way to build up anticipation, and a great way to provide more time to do things right, instead of rushed.

I've got no objections to them taking their time.
Also allows them to get better feedback. I wonder if the third installments of the Matrix and PotC would have been different if they'd waited to see what the world made of the second movies before going ahead.

Hmmm... I was a bit disappointed in hearing this too, but after reading you guys comments, I'm starting to think the same.
We've still got a shat-load of good movies to settle us until then tho, now don't we?
Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Narnia ( yeah yeah, I'm a wuss..), and lest we forget... MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!! 0_0 It's rumoured to be in about the same stage as TF2.
Oh, oh and what stage is the Hobbit and the Jackson/Spielberg combo Tintin animated movies in?

Am actually quite glad that it's been 'delayed'... taking your time over something generally means putting more thought into it as opposed to rushing something of poorer quality out...

Yeah. And did you hear that Transformers was the number one selling DVD here in the US for the year?
That statistic pretty much confirms people aren't going to lose interest if they delay it a year and that the sequel is going to surpass the first film in revenue.

yeah, but they will be thinking the sooner we get it out the sooner we coin it.
and that's about it.
looking to them saying at some point "We always envisioned it as a trilogy"

"In terms of story, I feel there's a bottomless well of tales to be told... just because we've wrapped up this three-movie story arc is no reason to leave these characters sat on the shelf."

Unless, of course, Peter gets married.

Meh, really. I'm not exactly in any rush for a sequel and the more time they spend on it the better the end result is likely to be (in theory).

I think a delay could be a good thing, like other pointed out, it might give them time to work on the script and story a lil longer and it will probably increase the hype a bit more.
