One of the Greatest Movie Experiences Ever

I just had one of the greatest movie experiences of all time.
Beowulf, IMAX, 3-D.
Visually speaking, it was the greatest movie I've experienced.
Storywise, it was fantastic, an epic tale of a fallen hero who seeks redemption.
The score was phenomenal. The cast was great, the acting sharp.
The 3-D was simply mindblowing. It was like I was part of the movie, like I was actually running around with the cast, avoiding Grendel in the mead hall, flying with the dragons, riding with the horse.
This movie has to be in my top ten ever, also surpassing Transformers in my mind for Best Flick of the Year.
Anybody else seen this? If not, see it on IMAX 3-D. You won't forget it.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I saw it, although not in IMAX-3D.
I thought it was a good movie, although not necessarily mindblowing. The acting was good, the story was, well, Beowulf.
The CGI was definitely mind blowing in some scenes, though. When they had extreme closeups, or scenes with only a few people or a lack of background, the SF was otherworldly in its realism. But when there was a lot going on, like in the scenes in the Hall, it was basically a bit better than Shrek.

No, it has to be seen in 3-D to get the experience I'm talking about.

Without the 3-D, its a good movie. With the 3-D, especially on IMAX, it was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had. Like I said, I was actually in the movie.
Do they have IMAX where you guys are?

We've got an IMAX where I'm at. And back in my hometown of San Antonio, as well.
IMAX movies are definitely bad ass. But normal movies shown on an IMAX screen are still basically normal sized, aren't they? That's what I remember. The sound is still pretty mind blowing, though.
And 3D...eh.....I've never really been blown away in any of my forays into 3D before in my life. Comic Book, Amusement Park Ride, or Movie.
Have you ever been to an OMNI? It's basically a half sphere of a screen that you stare up at in seriously reclined seating. They have one in Dallas that I've been to. It was pretty f****** sweet.

I'm actually going to see Beowulf again on the OMNI IMAX on December 23rd in Tampa.Shanti418 wrote:

Hey, go see it man. I wasn't particulary fond of 3D either, but this was very different than anything I've seen in the past.
