Looks interesting. Using Pyro 8) is always a big plus in my eyes...

What universe is this supposed to take place in?

Mmmm...I'm intrigued by this. Page 4 looks like a great homage to "Meet the Wreckers" but with Blades, which is awesome. Page 1 looks like Pyro appears and then is killed off in the same page, which is less so. I mentioned over on IDW that I really wanted to see Pyro in a comic, but if his character was going to get raped like Clench was in Megatron:Origin, then I'd rather he wasn't included at all. This looks like a thorough raping to me...I'll wait and see, but I won't be impressed if it's a "Hi then die" cameo, Pyro deserves more than that. As did Clench, but there you go.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Page one is told mainly in flashback from Hotspot's point of view. Unlike Clench, Pyro's death is actually one of the key things that drives the story. Pyro was one of the greatest leaders, a hero - so how are the guys who are left supposed to cope now? I would have loved to have spent more time with Pyro (and I might at some stage, to tell another story set before this) but Pyro was chosen because he made sense as a mentor to Hotspot (even down to their similar alt mode functions).

Eh, it still sounds like a "Hi then die" to me. I dunno, I just have a lot of affection for the G1.5 characters and it annoys me when they're reduced to redshirts. Kinda limits their scope for future involvement when they're killed off in a flashback in the first page in favour of the scramble city combiners, who - let's face it - have had and will get plenty of pagetime.

I'll wait until I've read the finished version before passing judgement, but killing off Pyro has definitely not given me a great first impression :sqr:

There is also the weird thing that all of the characters are in earth forms... There are already nice cybertronian versions of Hot Spot and his protectobots from Dark Ages, you could have used those.

I really hope that Pyro and Clench do make some more lasting appearances in IDW. Simon planned to do something with them during DW's TWW series, and I hope he still manages to squeeze them in somewhere.
