I'm not expecting much of T4, as far as I'm concerned it should have ended with T2 which was neutered to artificially extend the franchise so they could do movies about the war with Skynet.
It would help if the writers could decide once and for all if time travel actually changes anything, rather than flitting from a fatalistic future to a maleable future depending which sounds more dramatic.
Best way they could do this, imo, is to have it such that all the time travel has created an instability in the universe (ala time wars) so the normal rules of cause and effect are all screwed up. That way they can explain why previously we could change the future, now we can't etc. and would also remove the fact that we already know how the war ends. Suddenly we'd have an open ended plot which wasn't tripping up on its already established threads and logic.

Agreed 100%.Best First wrote:see, i read Karl's post and all i can think is

T2 could've, should've been the end of the series. But it wasn't. And I thought T3 was pretty damn kick ass. How could anyone watch the first two Terminator movies and NOT want to get to the part where Skynet takes over and John Connor fights an army of Terminators in a post-apocalyptic wasteland? Hopefully they won't skip over the part where Claire Danes repopulates the Earth.
Now this whole Terminator:Sarah Connor Chronicles thing? THAT'S overkill and lame.
Still, it's pretty surprising that Bale signed up for it, especially when I see it's being directed by McG.

Why are the Sarah Connor Chronicles overkill and not another two movies when it was wrapped up nicely after the second movie?Shanti418 wrote:Agreed 100%.Best First wrote:see, i read Karl's post and all i can think is

Ah yes, without doubt one of my favourite movies. Sturdy, non-slip and just the right height to stop my dining table rocking.Obfleur wrote:Say hello to the director behind such awesome movies as Charlies Angelssnarl wrote:Who the **** is this McG ****?

I thought T3 was the worst sequel I'd seen in a long time.
I think this will be worse, though.
And what is it with same character/different actor all the time? It's fairly obvious that this franchise jumped the shark with T2 now.

Nah, apparently that was Jon Peters - from the IMDB page for Wild Wild West:Brendocon wrote:Isn't McG the **** allegedly responsible for the "Superman in a black costume who can't fly and uses merchandisable guns, vs a villain with a gay robot sidekick" script that Kevin Smith didn't write?
Kevin Smith has said that the giant spider was producer Jon Peters's idea for the later-abandoned "Superman Reborn" project with Nicolas Cage and Tim Burton.

Because Sarah Connor Chronicles is just creating and filling in gaps in between the movies. "Uh, there were like, uh, some MORE Terminators, and uh, they went back and attacked Sarah and John Connor AGAIN. And why don't we make them hot chicks? Yeah, that's the ticket!"Karl Lynch wrote: Why are the Sarah Connor Chronicles overkill and not another two movies when it was wrapped up nicely after the second movie?
And while I realize that that was basically T3 as well -Sarah+Claire Danes, it also had the ascendancy of Skynet as a backstory, which was enough continuity mythology goodness to keep me happy.
Whatever you think about that, T4 will be a totally different movie. It's not a pursuit movie. It will be an action movie. It will be the war against the machines.
I think that if they had the SF tech of today back when T2 came out, T3 would have come out right afterwords, I'd bet.
