If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Long story short- I've been keeping myself out of the loop [musically] on purpose for some time. It's time to rectify that.
I need the names of absolutely every worthy music act* and album within the past 2 years. And I need them yesterday.

Thank you.
*Do not mention The Killers however. I can't stand them.

Dialup. I did try to load the thing but my comp doesn't like it and I am impatient. Asides, this is specific. Means I don't have to trawl through comment after comment of irrelevancy.

Depends on what you're lookin for.
Say Anything has some good stuff. New LP isnt bad. Tim Armstrong is comin out with a new album soon. +44 is whats left of Blink 182 (sans Tom). Gym Class Heroes has grabbed my attention, worth checking out if you like a bit of the ol hip-hop. Cobra Starship is another fun band.
Lots of opportunity out there.

Are you suggesting that we'd do such a thing?

King Creosote, album is
KC Rules OK. Laid-back modern Scottish indie-folk stuff, very melodic, whimsical, romantic, funny. He's a lovely chap. Listen to '678'.
If you just want a sampler kind of thing, Rough Trade various CDs are always gold IMHO.

That's the latest but they have a whole heap of different types. The Singer-Songwriter one is my current fave.

A little known band called Wham. Apparently the lead singer is a bit of a dish and every inch the ladies man, they are part of the 'popular music' persuasion.

oh yeah man, might be biased because I'm Irish, but they are right good. As I said they're live shows are the best, nothing like them with friends and a few beers.
