My flames got knocked out early this year. At first I thought it was just the flames sucking it up, but after watching detroit play against SanJose, it may be that Detroit is just f**ing amazing.
Having Bertuzzi (even though I hate him), seems to be the tipping point. Way too much depth combined with the talent they already had. Datsuyk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom have all been unreal.
Ive got Detroit vs Ottawa in the final, with both teams winning by 6 in my pool. Looks like Ottawa may win in 4 or 5 and Detroit will have trouble against Anaheim, who are playing equally well.

Well, Ottawa has jumped out ahead of the Sabres early, was not expecting that.....should be interesting to see if the Sabres can rally and sweep the next 4. The way they're playing....doubt it.
Detroit : Anaheim is gonna be an intense series. They both have a hell of a lineup which should make for great games. But I'm still calling Red Wings

I only REALLY watched hockey during the 90s, but I too was sad to see this result.
American teams have won 13 Cups in a row. Now that was OK back in the aforementioned 90s, when NHL was still genuinely the 4th biggest sport in the US, and people around the nation knew of guys like Patrick Roy or Peter Forsberg or Darrin Hatcher.
But now, it's the 21st century, and most of America couldn't care less about hockey (too busy watching NASCAR), yet we still win. Whereas if Ottawa were to win, all of Canada would have erupted in celebration. I even heard Leaf fans rooting of Ottawa.
So yeah, Canada: America has stolen your game, our tax structure means we can hold better talent and beat you in Stanley Cups, and most of America doesn't even really care.
I'm sorry.
