Free Crimea album out now!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It's been brought forward a bit because the release got picked up by The Guardian and a load of other music press.

Don't have a review ready yet, but it's good. Really damn good. You can get it on CD, too, but the band's main hope is that people will turn up to gigs and buy stuff.

If you like what you hear, spread the word, pass stuff around, etc.

Free you say? I'll have some of that!

I must admit I don't know much about them.

Some of the band members were previously in The Crocketts (best known for "that one with a chorus of 'I don't ****ing think so'" but with a ton of other fun songs -- the Crox were a Welsh cowpunk phase, interesting lyrics, loud guitars, often shouty.)

The new group released a bunch of stuff themselves, got picked up by Warner US, sold a respectable few tens of thousand, got dropped by Warner and are now taking the "here's the sampler, get the word out, get people to buy merch / come to gigs" route.

I like 'em -- http://virtualdebris.co.uk/music/ :)

What did you think?

This was right up my alley. Epic rock, euphoric guitars. Not the strongest voice - reminded me of Hope of the States - but I do love that band, so.

I wish 'em luck. Its a great way of getting the music out there.
