The pornindustry and piracy.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

The pornindustry and piracy.

Why hasn't the pornindustry raised its voice and said "Dudes, peer 2 peer-programs, Direct Connect, Torrents and **** like that is hurting our business!" ?
The musicbusiness and Hollywood cry about it every week. Why not porn?

Maybe the pornindustry has mentioned it - but I've never read about it.
Can't believe I'm still here.

The porn industry makes more money than regular movies and music put togther, at least in the US. I don't think they really care about a few downloads.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Because they're nice guys and exhibitionists.

And because they all love it.

I think I read somewhere that the porn industry actually suffers much more losses from Internet filesharing than music and "proper" movie industries. I don't remember anyone of them complaining though.

The budget issue seems to make the most sense. Get two attractive people (or six or fifteen) to have sex on camera... not a lot of special effects involved.

Depends what you're watching...there are a fair few sci-fi porn movies that are worth a look ;) The Hot d'Or awards even have a "best special effects" category these days.

They do; read a few webmaster forums. They just don't have the mainstream press as a vehicle to make the complaint.

Plus a limited amount of copying can be very beneficial, so it's only in interests to go after forums that are serving as indexes to vast quantities of stuff. (And if stuff like that gets taken down, it's usually because someone's had a quiet word with an upstream provider, not because things have gone through strict legal channels.)
