TF Movie toy protos and CGI shot of Scorponok

Post by BB Shockwave » Sun Nov 26, 2006 9:12 pm

I have to say... we at Transfans don't like this movie much, eh? :D Otherwise, how come this didn't get posted as news when it's been out for days now... :ididit:

Anyhow....

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=116001

Pics of (in alt mode only): Scorponok (he does seem to transform...), Jazz, Barricade, Bumblebee, Brawl and a so far unknown armored troop carrier. (latter was said to be a non-screen character).

Must say, as much as I dislike the movie designs, these toys COULd be good, since they are MUUUCH simplified. Look at BB, for example. No way that thing transforms like it does on the CGI shot...

And SCorpy on screen:

Image

Looks quite skinny and (being a biologist) I must note that eyes like this can be found on Jumping or wolf spiders, but never on scorpions... and the vertical puplis look dumb too. I like the triple-guns in the claws, though. But all in all, this reminds me of the monster from the Power Rangers movie, not a transformer...

(oh and the soldier are shitting their pants, but those who read the script like me, know how deadly... ineffective Scorpy is.)

THANK YOU! :o

I've been looking like mad for this picture all morning, finally someone wised up and posted it independently of Aintitcool.

I kinda like it, not at all what I was originally expecting of Scorponok, but it's pretty cool. Only thing that looks a bit off is perhaps the vertical eyes.

And yes, seeing as they released more pics of toys recently, and one of them being scorpy, I will say that the toys look like they might turn out pretty good actually. See? Not all bad. ^^

That's some great FX in there. Way I see it, the real problem the fandom has with all this is not the designs or the script or the CGI but the fact that they're trying to stick the name Transformers on it. It's US Godzilla all over again.

Exactly. If this were just "Robot Invasion!", and they had these designs, and they it started coming out that they transformed into cars and stuff and had some sort of power source named enerline, we'd be like, "WOW! That's just like Transformers! That's pretty cool! You know what? They should make a Transformer movie!"

What the [composite word including 'f*ck'] is that?

Yeah, show me some more reasons to not like where all this is going.

It's not that hard to make a Transformers movie with regular Transformers, is it??

Come to think of it, that pic above does look like one of Godzillas foes, though the name escapes me.
No wait....found it: http://godzilla.monstrous.com/godzilla_foes_10.htm

Or no, maybe its this Godzilla foe: http://monsterzero.us/monsterzero/news/gfw/kumonga.jpg

Cause it sure as hell ain't no Transformer...

i think it would be a pretty good realisation of a transmetal.

i'll withhold judgement on the toys until i see the robot modes.

However having taken my MP-)4 out o fthe box last night i am still struggling with the fact that well - these guys don't look something like that.

Yeah... I have no problem with the argument most often said by the movie's supporters, namely that the 'blocky' G1-stlye TFs like MP or Alternators have not as much articulation as a human would have... heck, they ARE ROBOTS! Surely, if MP Prime cannot scratch his back, I don't care, because he's an alien robot that is not modeled on a human skeleton, he's only antropomorph in the general shape.

Side note, Besty... I remember you were selling a MP Magnus a long time ago. Did you manage to sell that or you still have it?

sold it dude - sorry.

i understand the skeleton aspect, but i'm pretty sure that's pretty easy to negotiate if you have a decent design team - the only reason MP Prime can't scratch his back is because it would be too expensive to make a prime that did, IMO.

Was asking 'cause I got MP Prime and now all of Hungary's Transfans want one and bugging me to help them get one... :)

Yes, it could be done... even his waist could be put on a ball-joint or something. But I guess for such realism MP Prime would have to be as large as you or me.. :) I wonder about MP Movie Prime though... I heard they'll be making one. Wonder how close that will be to the CGI version.
