Hi all,
Steve here from OneShallStand.com. I'm spreading the word about a special offer I have going until December 31st.
Anyone who orders Transformers Escalation from my website by the end of the year will be entered into a grand draw. On January 1st I'll be drawing a name out of a hat and that person will win every Transformers comic that IDW and Devils Due puts out in 2007 (excluding TPBs) on the house.
I'll even pay the postage providing you are UK based.
To qualify you'd need to buy either a single issue subscription of issues 1-6, or a 'deluxe sub' (two covers per issue (this gets you two entries in the draw)) or issues 1-3 if you're somebody who prefers to pay for the books on a month by month basis rather than subscribe.
Find out more at http://www.oneshallstand.com/competition.html
Thanks for reading!

Fair enough. My deliveries arrive on a Thursday afternoon so if I'm off work I post them on the day. If not I package them up that evening for a Friday am mailout, which means most people receive them by Saturday.
As the weekend is usually the first chance a lot of us get to go to a comic shop it works out okay - and 60p postage is cheaper than the bus/train fare. The other bonus for people buying a sub is that they don't have to concern themselves with trips to the shop every month, they pay once and I send the comics when they are released. But I know a lot of people enjoy their trips to the shop and have one nearby, so online ordering isn't the best solution for everyone.

Yeah, I have a comic shop two doors down from my local pub, it doesn't get much better than that
Having read the Escalation previews I know I'm going to be waiting outside it every Wednesday morning, there's no chance I'd even make it to Saturday without buying a copy.
...
Hmmm, if I just bought a one-cover subscription, would I get to pick which cover I got? That way I could get one cover from the shop on the day and one in the post at the weekend, and get a chance in the prize draw...

If people buy the individual issues they can select the cover they want. With a sub its less straightforward because they are parting with their cash before we know what the covers will look like. So they can either drop me an email with the cover preferences or I send them at random. Sometimes people want a specific set, like all the Cover As in Stormbringer or Art of War, but I've found a fair amount of people aren't too fussed. Bottom line: the option's there if you want it.
Sounds like you've got a great set-up there with the shop just along from the pub. I remember back in the Marvel days I used to be outside the newsagent's at 7am on a Friday waiting for it to open so I could pick up my weekly TF fix. I'd go home and read it before school, so I know what you mean about wanting the comic the day its available. There was one issue, The Deadly Games part 2, I think, where didn't turn up until Tuesday and that was hell.

Keep up the good work Steve!
I didn't even get issue 298 (Part 1 of Rhythms of Darkness) at all! A year later I nicked someone elses copy that one of the teachers had confiscated! This involved sneaking behind said teacher's desk in the middle of Physics lesson to nab said copy... Ah, memories...
It had a great cover:

A fine offer! But not for the wait.......

This is what really got me: my dad had ordered me a subscription to the US series. At the same time, he was getting the same series at his office. Issue 75 was coming out (Edge of Extinction) and for some reason, BOTH subscriptions died at 74. We had no idea of this. After we figured it out, we went to the store for EoE and it was sold out. I actually bought US#76 before I bought US#75.

Thing is the minimum you need to get in the draw is to buy Escalation 1-3. You could order the B covers and then pick up the As from your local shop. If you win and you'd still rather use the shop, you could sell the prize to someone else. I'm happy to post the comics wherever.Yaya wrote:I am of the same fanatical bend.

By the way I'm enjoying reading people's experiences about getting hold of the Marvel comics in the 80s. Probably the worst thing I did was to dump my subscription at issue 280 after I found a place selling the US comic. As tired as I was of the black and white, three story format, it was the reprints that finally made up my mind. Of course as soon as I bailed things picked up a few issues later and I've since shelled out a small fortune buying the missing issues on eBay.

Yep, anyone who ordered an Escalation sub (or issues 1-3) prior to the competition's launch will still be entered. Send me an email and I'll check to see whether you've ordered or not.

Will you win FREE Transformers comics for a year?
Hi everyone,
There is now less than 48 hours before I'll be making the draw and revealing who has won a year's free Transformers comics.
I'm offering one copy per issue of every TF comic put out by IDW and Devils Due in '07 excluding TPBs, and I'll also pay postage if the winner is UK based. To secure a ticket in the draw you have only to purchase issues 1-3 of TF Escalation from OneShallStand.com by midnight on December 31st, 2006.
Someone has got to win this fab prize and there's no reason why it can't be you. If it's your name drawn out of the hat on January 1st you can sit back and look forward to free copies of Escalation, spotlights, the Megatron origin series, and TF the Movie tie-ins and more.
If you've got a regular order with a shop, as some above have, then there's always the option to sell your winnings on eBay - or sell the prize to a friend if you like. What I'm saying is this is a once-in-a-lifetime offer (I'm not planning on giving away this much free stuff again) and you owe it to yourself not to miss out.
More details and list of everyone in the draw so far are here -

Best of luck.
Steve
