1. So much about the talk by Murphy and Bay that designs can change and all that. They have the toys made, even the packaging is done, 3/4 year before the movie is out. Also the package text confirms the leaked script pretty much... for those who read, these toys were made for the part where the Autobots enter the atmosphere and then scan for Earth modes. It's interesting that they made one for Starscream too, as in the script he is already on earth.
My hypothesis: I'd give 95% chance that all the prototypes we saw before are pretty much final.
2. Never, ever did I think I'd see in my life: The return of the Rock Lords! Yes, these, especially Optimus, not only looks like a Rock Lord in both modes - as they are pretty much falling asteroids - they also transform like Rocklords, folding their limbs around their bodies and closing into a ball. Optimus even looks like a Rocklord with the melted asteroid-surface on his arms and legs.
3.: Take a good look at... Starscream? Umm, no, that's never a Starscream. The bot body, when I look at it, looks more like a Macross or some other Japanese generic robot. The colors scream Jetfire... The alt mode? WTF is it? Reminds me of Thanos' ship from Marvel...
-And take a good look at the face! It has two fangs/mandibles pointing upward from the sides of his head. The eyes are wide and angle upward, with 'evil' eyebrows above them that end in antennae. Reminds you of someone? Yes... WASPINATOR! But never SS.
Conclusion?
-I'll still get Starscream, propably. As I'll repaint his Earth mode to Apeface, I'll repaint this one into Pre-earth Waspinator (Here's a cue, Hasbro!)
-AS for them overall? Not too good toys. I think the majority of the fans won't get as excited when seeing these when say, we saw the first glimpse of the 6 inch Titaniums or the first Classics.
-Btw - the back panel confirms two not too heartwarming things...
1.: The 'Energon Cube' is now called the Allspark. Use the Matrix, dammit! - as Magnus would say.
2.:The text also confirms that the TFs can morph their outer shape at will. THis is stupid for various reasons... like, if they can morph why would they need to transform? But I'm too tired to list all the reasons.
Ok...

Not an entirely daft idea really, the TF have no use for space-ships, they just turn into them!
Or well, atleast not for dropships, I suppose.
Must take a closer look, but they look terribly Gundam-like right now. For a pre-earth look, they may not be all bad, just some change or two to the colours, since they're supposed to be alien robots.
EDIT: But wait... Prime's got... MUNKEY FEET!! >_<

I don't think they are formless before Earth, but you're right about B... it pretty much makes the whole point of Transforming pointless. If one can alter their Alt mode as they wish... then Prime could morph into a jet any time he wanted, or BB could become a tank on the spot. That is rather a stupid concept. I wonder why Hasbro agreed to the morphing... oh yeah, more toys.Best First wrote:i'm not a fan of the (seeming) notions that;
a) the Tf's are relatively formless prior to coming to earth
b) they morpth.

If the rest of the Movie toys are as 'good' as these, we can hope it's gonna be a big failure.
Though someone over TFW2005 said "to heck with Classics Jetfire, I want these!" He must have gone mad....
