If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Damned pity about the mistimed voices in the front half (Darth Vader sounds pretty good), though the rest of it almost makes up for that.

I noticed burning Ewoks takes priority among the comments on that page. Personally I don't see what the big deal is...

Damned pity no. 2 is that they didn't carry it on a bit longer. There's still a bit of sinking left there.

EDIT: Slightly offtopic:

I remember an Ep I bit with Andy Dick, and suddenly there's this - what did they do for Ep II?

Ewoks= precedessors of Jar Jar Binks and his ilk. Though at least Ewoks were less dominant in Ep. VI. then Jar jar was in I., but you could see where the franchise was going... especially the Ewoks movies that Lucas made later and that sucked major time.

I never saw that before, it's pretty good. ESpecially Yoda... :) Though LOTR is still their funniest one yet.

Ewoks MOVIES? Seriously?
I take it back then.

Someone should do a geek survey and see if Ewoks have lost the pole position to JarJar by now.

Didn't see those?

I saw the second only... some little girl's ship crashlands on Endor, his family dies and he is taken care by some old shipwrecked dude who has one of the Ewoks from the movie and some other furry animal as friends. Then there are lots of weird aliens and a sorceress who for some reason want to get the girl (or her ship), and basically the Ewoks beat them.... like they did with the stormtroopers.

Pro7 aired theses movies pretty often, I heard the first one was a sort of 'Robinsons meet the Ewoks' type movie.

Thank God the fan reaction killed Jar Jar----:) I shudder to think what would have happened if he would have been popular with the kids...

Without bothering to check, I think they were called "Ewoks fight (or battle) for Endor", and "Caravan of Courage".

******* rubbish, the pair of them.

I was going to mention that, but didn't feel it was entirely relevant at the time. Have you seen it recently? They've got themselves a plot on a campsite for the old 'van, and they've built a deck out front of it-whacked up one of those retractable awnings* and put in some raised planters too.

Of course, the biggest improvement was getting the smell of Ewok sh*t out of the carpet.

*Like in those ads with John Stalker and Drummer the dog. I mention this, because that advert for the garage safety door really annoys me. The idea is it will shut itself but will stop if anything breaks the invisible beam-hence, no crushy-to-death. This is demonstrated in the advert when Drummer runs under the door, and it stops closing. Stalker then remarks "He won't do that again!" Why? Because absolutely nothing bad or remotely scary that would discourage the dog from attempting it again happened? Stupid ex-cop reduced to whoring himself and his poor pooch out on TV in cheapo adverts.

I think this mixes up Battle for Endor with the Ewoks cartoon, slightly.

The first one, Caravan of Courage, goes basically like this:

Space Family Robinson (sans arm-wielding robot) crash on Endor. Little girl meets and befriends Wicket. Older brother gets all envious and goes off in a huff. Parents go looking for him but get captured by a giant. Brother returns, finds his sister, gets the Ewoks who then go by caravan to the giant's lair and bring back the kids' parents, while learning how to get along with strangers and all sorts of "let tv teach your kids what's good and what's bad in society" stuff.

The second one, Battle for Endor, is much the same.

The family have been living with the Ewoks for some time now (a few months, it would appear, due to their lack of ageing, especially amongst the two kids, who'd visually age quickest). The Ewok village is under attack and only the girl and Wicket (again!) escape. The girl's family are killed, but the Ewoks are all captured by marauders. Feeling sorry for themselves, the two survivors get lost in the woods and meet an old guy who crashed years earlier and is crazier than 'old Ben'. Naturally, they all become good friends and go off to rescue the villagers from the superior numbers and firepower of the marauders, learning all about "let tv teach your kids what's good and what's bad in society" and stuff. Naturally, they succeed, and they all live as happily ever after as a crazy old man, a not-long-since toddling girl and a village of Ewoks can.

IMO, the Star Wars Holiday Special (sans Boba Fett cartoon) is a more comfortable watch.

Thanks for the corrections - now I remember I only saw the first half of the Caravan of Courage and then The battle for Endor... Got those mixed up.

I agree, they are both horrible. And the cartoon too. I just downloaded th Boba Fett special, it's hogwash.

Aww, c'mon. It's the only bit of the Holiday Special worth watching.

Also, the renderings of the droids must've been lifted directly for the Droids cartoon.
