Ooh eck, what have i done?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It looks like i might have just have bought a house...

Well, started the process anyway....
I've made an offer on somewhere, the owner's agreed to it and taken said property off of the market - my broker is now on the case with the mortgage.

Gah!! I'm scared! :dead:

aye! i'm loving the prospect of having my own place - to be able to do what i want when i want, to not have to worry about flatmates, to just be able to say "this is my home"!

but then i think of the money and the prospect of a 25 year mortgage! ack!

i also have just realised that, whilst i own enough electronics to kit out a whole flat all by own - i don't have a sofa or a fridge or a cooker or washing machine! oops...

it's not massive, it's a simple affair really... 2 bed, lounge, kitchen... on the 8th floor (of 11) and has a balcony with a great view across london... more than adequate for little old me! :)

and yeah, 2nd bedroom will be my 'office'/'stuff' room, so they'll be plenty of transformers in there! ;)

Nice. :) I've recently been thinking in that direction myself... it's a long ways off but I'd like something with a yard at some point.

Good luck with that!

Aye, they are! I've ended up in the Hornchurch area... it's quite nice and it's on the District line , so transport into London 'proper' isn't a problem. (even if it is zone 6)

Not sure when i'll be moving, still need to find another 5k for my deposit on the mortgage, but fingers crossed can scavange it from somewhere...

You have a floor. Floors are under-rated. You can't fall off 'em, unlike sofas.

Hmmm. Will you still be popping round to your folks now and again....just to visit, of course....

Out east. I like the East End, but really couldn't afford to buy anywhere there... or the places i could afford i'd be living in a demilitarized zone :o
Hornchurch is out past Barking, almost Romford (essex).

How **** would it be if you were a male prostitute, and everytime you 'relieved some stress' you ended up £50 in debt to your pimp?

Good luck with this, I'm hoping to buy a house next summer, should have about 250,000 cash to spend, but house prices in York are still on the up, I'll either have to compromise on area or distance from the centre probably.

One of my ex's lives close to where your moving to Ilford I believe. Travel expences for her are murder, assuming your working close to the centre of London. I think MV has met her actually.

Aye, Ilford won't be far!
Travel's gonna cost me about 150 a month i think... ouch!

I should hear in a week or so about definite confirmation, it's all still rather prilimary at the moment... (offer's been accepted, just waiting to hear about whether i can get the mortgage or not)

*cross fingers and just about everything else that i can cross*

Guess what!!

I've only gone and become a bonefide property owner! :swirly:
Yup, as of tuesday, i moved into my new flat... and it's mine all mine!!

Unfortunately have also been struck down with some kind of fluey bug thing, which isn't nice, and means i've hardly unpacked at all... :( but the awesome view across london from my bedroom window in the morning has been helping to cheer me up! ;)

and it's mine, all mine!

no stupid landlords, no mental flatmates... just a bit of a mortgage...

mwahahahahhahahahahahahhahahaha.... *cough*
