Heh, at BotCon, a Fan stood up to ask Michael McConnohie as question, but before the fans could say anything, the voice actor blurted out "No, Tracks isn't gay!"

The fan sat down immediately. heh

He said Tracks's voice was a rendition of the "Harvard Lock-jaw", based on Jim Backus' Thurston Howell the Third, from Gilligan's Island.

Cosmos was supposed to be a Peter Lorry impression, as well.

how can a TF be gay? What a ****ing stupid question?

I assume you have based it on weak stereotypes, yes? Nice one, really well done.

I dunno, if any transformer were to be gay, I think Tracks would fit the bill!

I vaguely remember Starscreamer claiming Starscream was a gay icon a few years ago, and that one club in San Francisco had a statue of him inside.

So if we are going to base this on weak stereotypes, i am much happier that it Tracks than Starscream!

Starscream comes across as the 'camp villian' type to me, where tracks appears to be marco from big brother.

Did they orignaly create these characters with these thoughts in mind?

Relax, Impy is just having some fun with a stereotype. I somehow doubt very highly Mark actually believes any of it.

I honestly think they did!

Every series needs a camp villain, and the autobots were so..generic that i expect it was a concious decision to make Tracks a bit of a bitch.

I think Tracks is fab and all my fellow gay tf fan friends also think he is great!

I think he looks great in yellow too :)

Actually the thing about Tracks and Starscream being gay goes way back to when a.t.t. was in its infancy. Tracks was always such a dandy, so it makes sense that he'd be thought of as effeminate.

The deal about Starscream being gay was actually from the French dub of TF, where Starscream was female. Guess the French figured those intakes on his chest were breasts.

In Japan they had an androgynous Godmaster, Buster, who looked like a woman, but sounded like a man. On top on that, Starscream (from BW2), spoke with the Japanese equivilent of a lisp. I was watching BW2 one day, and a friend from Japan came over and asked "Why does that guy speak like he's gay?". More comedy ensued when he saw Starsream link-up to the back of BB. heh

I guess another example of a TF with gay tendencies is BW Megatron. I mean, c'mon, he had high heels, was covered in mauv leather, and was called "My Queen" by his most loyal servant.

In Japanese animation, villains are usually androgynous or transvestites - the clssic manga inage of an evil but elegantly dressed and well-manicured villain has long-been established. Most likely when designing Starscream, they had that in mind...Ref: Commander Makara in Star Fleet...Bloke or bird?
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Wasn't Makara orginally meant to be an hermaphrodite? I recall reading that somewhere... but (of course) when the series was dubbed into English, that aspect was more or less dropped completely...

:o

There was once a time when people didn't even contemplate that Liberace was gay. He was just flamboyant and all that stuff.

Just because somebody's a bit of a dandy shouldn't automatically mean people assume they're gay.

Look at Charles Hawtrey in the Carry On films. Camp as you like. Actually drunk, but that's just splitting hairs.

No, I rarely know what my point is nowadays, I spent the entire weekend watching episodes of CSI - I'm on the verge of sealing off every topic and dusting for prints. My brain is melting.
Grrr. Argh.

yes, yes he is :D

And to answer the question- as female transformers don't actually exist (being as all TFs, including arcee, are essentially asexual) hence that must mean they are all homosexual. Or as homosexual as you can get when you're asexual. :)

Starscream in BW II is really that type of villain - though I rarely watch any Japanese shows other than TFs. Btw, just why was Galvatron in BW II totally pink? Not the best color when you want to strike terror into the heart of your enemies...

And if color says something, what about Action master Thundercracker (or Neoncracker...)?

Same reason as Misfire and Skullcruncher wore pink: Because they're badass enough to get away with it.

I mean, come on - surrounded by psychotics, and you're brave enough to pull that off without fear of bullying? Hard cases!

They are more bordeaux, but you're right.

I guy who usually shoots in the other direction he aims and a huge metal alligator who's constantly grinding is teeth are not the types of folk others would mess with....
