Art Tips...Programs?

Post by Tane » Wed Sep 13, 2006 4:16 am

I'm beginning to think some of these sweet pics arn't drawn free hand and scanned.

so my questions are

what Programs are you using?
any free programs I could download that Could help me make something impressive?
Any tips to get all that detail in there? or the meshing colors? Do you guys create everything that's there? or do you find certian objects or backgrounds?

I'd like to get into creating some art, I do have decent free hand talent (decent, not GREAT) but know absolutely nothing about the process or how to get started.

I'd appreciate any help that would be provided

Well, I would suggest that the best program to begin with it Paint Shop Pro. :)

It can do quite a lot of things, while still staying fairly simple to use. It's good for learning the basics, and if you grow more advanced, and professional, you can then fork out for a Photoshop-version. :)

If you really want to draw on the computer tho, a mouse is a no-no. You need a touch-sensitive electronic pen and tablet for that. There's loads of models but they're all more or less expensive, so only buy one if you really really want to draw straight in the computer. Otherwise you can always use your scanner, and some pencil and paper you know. ^^
