haha - this is the best bit.
With no game - the PS3 will cost you....drum-roll...
£425
So u get a console thats like 10% more powerfull then the X360 and has only 1 exclusive title for it now in Metal Gear Solid 4, all the other games have gone multi-format as dev teams releaside "hey, we CAN put this on X360, the PS3 isnt 2x more powerfull"...

I'd rather buy a Wii, one or two games for it and a game or two for my DS - than buy a Ps3 What will it cost to buy a Ps3, a game and a extra controller? Meh...
I'm hoping it will get less expensive as time goes though, as I'll probably want to play Pro Evolution Soccer.

Can't believe I'm still here.

Gotta love the strap on action.
Anyway, like I've been saying for well over a year, this is only paving the way for the Nintendo Renaissance. The Wii is cheap, inventive, and will catch the fancy of any who see it. It will achieve iPod like coolness and rule the world.
And MS, if there's ANY ANY way you can convince Konami to give you MGS4, please do so. My first born can go on the bargaining table.
*looks around to make sure no one's looking* Sprunker's too. :P

The best thing the PS2 had going for it was the 3rd party support. Hence it had games like Katamari, Guita Hero etc. The only reason these games were made for PS2 was because it was the market leader.
PS3 could be seriously harmed without that kind of support. It will be cheaper to makes games for the Wii & 360. There is potentially very little to distinguish itself as something worth £425

Sony are going to have awful troubles from this if it doesn't come off, they stand to lose billions on the PS3 if it fails and from the sound of it failure is looking increasingly likely (failure as defined as coming a long way second or possibly third in the home console market- considering the loss they plan to sell each PS3 unit at they need a lot of games takeup to make profit).

Yeah, it's all going to come down to 3rd party support. If MS gets it on the same level as Sony, it's all over for Sony. But yeah, I need to SEE the MGS, the Guitar Hero/Kareoke Revolution, the Katamaris or the world.

TBH it'd do Sony some good I think. They desperately need a kick in the ass as a corporation- they're huge, bloated, impossible to manage and it takes years for ideas to get anywhere. A massive loss on the PS3 could mean a shakeup big enough to get them out of their rut and start behaving like a sensible corporation again (it might make them start valuing their customers a little more too).
