I've had my Nokia 6610 for three years now (I think it's three years) and it is outstanding!
Sure, I can't take photos or listen to mp3's. But what the hell, it's a phone. I can make calls and text people (and a bunch of other ****). That's all I want from a phone.
It has survived numerous drunk adventures.
For example: Last year I sort of threw it at the ground. The "shell" flew off, which led to the battery flying off.
But I just pieced it together and everything was fine.
A couple of months ago I did the same thing again: I was outside with my friend waiting for a bus and he said "Dude, it's super dark. You have to show the bus driver that you are here".
So I started waving my phone around, hoping that the light from the display would catch his eye.
This led to me throwing the phone right up in the air.
But it survived!
It has bathed in beer, Jägermeister, cider, water, etc.
It has been to five music festivals.
It has been sat on.
etc etc etc
I can't believe the darn thing is still working.
I love you phone.

My phone, as far as phones go, is fine.
I hate the cultural and social implications of our civilization having cel phones.
Used to be, when you walked down the street and saw someone talking to themselves, they were crazy. Now, they have bluetooth.
Used to be, when you bought things in a mall or got food from a fast food place, people said things like "Hello," and "Thank you" to the wage slaves therin. Now, they treat them like there automatrons, and apologize to the person on the other line for having to be distracted for a few seconds for the drudgery of actual social exchange.
n e wayz, txtng s bad 2.

I love my old mobile, that died years ago. It was skinny and sexy and could play 'Talk SHow Host' by Radiohead and 'Today' by the Smashing Pumpkins and helped me succeed with the ladies a somewhat flummoxing amount od times.
Then it died.
I got a new one.
It wasn't the same.
So I stopped using it.
I've been without mobile for about a year now. Everyone thinks I'm insane or trying to prove something. I'm not (trying to prove something anyway) I just realised I didn't like my mobile, then realised that I didn't actually need it to live my life and so stopped using it.
No worries so far!

Anyway, I stole your idea now - Talk Show Host is perfect...
I had one of these, loved it. I now have a Nokia 6280 which I hateEline wrote:I love my phone too!
It's a sony ericsson T610, in metal
A bit design-y, had it for a few years now.
It can take photos but the quality is so bad that I don't really use it. I make phone calls and send the occasional text message, and use it as an alarm clock.
Two years ago, I wanted one of these, and as it was on a buy online offer for £50 less than in the shops, I went for it. Only thing was, Orange, who I've been with since last century, screwed up big time ("Oh, we've had internet problems and lost your order, although we still have all the details", "Oh, there's been a major server crash and we've lost lots of order. Did you place an order?", "That special offer is now closed. Would you like it for full price?") and I never received it.Eline wrote:I love my phone too!

I later gave up and went for a K700i in their shop, which I still use, tho it's beginning to show signs of aging now.

Mine's a beat-up piece of crap. I got it a good... what, three years ago when I moved to go to school, I was suckered into one of those "Sign up for two years and get a phone!" dealys. At the time I needed it and wanted the internet capability on it, so I thought "Hmm, this'll do..."
Then I stopped going to school, moved home and didn't need it anymore, really. Didn't have reception where I lived unless we drove into the city, anyway. For awhile a regreted even getting it. Now that I'm back in a city and have a wider circle of people I try to keep in touch with however, it's become invaluable and I've grown to appreciate it. Yeah, mine doesn't take pictures or play actual "song" ringtones either, but the B/F can get ahold of me easily, my brothers can get ahold of me easily and vice versa, I spend a lotlotlot of time text messaging my mother and sister while I'm at work and all my friends have the number so if they wanna do something and I'm not at home, they just call it. Oh, and it's handy for calling the city bus-line to find out when the next bus is going by, and calling taxis and whatnot.
It's almost constantly on me and it's a little cheaper than it was when I first got it thanks to a three-year signing bonus. And like Ob's, my mobile is seemingly indestructable. I've drunkenly dropped it on the floor, I've kicked it, it's casing has burst open on contact with the floor more times than I can count and yet, it just keeps on going...
It's looking like it needs to be replaced, though... and the battery just really sucks. If I text too much or talk too long, the battery fades really quickly. I'm thinking of getting something a little newer... I'll probably opt for something simple... I'm not much of a one to give a crap about fads, it's a damn phone. All I care about is it's ability to text message and reach the people I care about.
