Nice one.
I had the boss from the US call me to say "Where did you get the idea we were winding up the UK branch?" and I looked around the office that was completely empty apart from the only employee of AvantGo UK (me) and said, "Well..."
Did his best to reassure me, but the CV is out there...

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I can't get a job to save my life IBM and MS don't want me (I'm not good enough) but apparently I'm too good for everyone else (the question I keep being asked is 'why don't you work for IBM or Microsoft?'). Currently I'm just looking for temp work and I can't even damnwell get that- employers just seem to take one look at my degree and knock the idea of employing me as a temp on the head.
It's annoying... fingers crossed for a research grant for my Masters... else I'll end up stacking shelves in a supermarket.

Have you applied to Sybase? They have a large office out in Maidenhead, I'm sure there'd be a job there for you.Karl Lynch wrote:I can't get a job to save my life IBM and MS don't want me (I'm not good enough) but apparently I'm too good for everyone else (the question I keep being asked is 'why don't you work for IBM or Microsoft?'). oooh ta, they have nowt at the moment (due to the hopeful masters I could only do temporary work) but I'll keep them in mind :3
My master plan is to get a PhD then leave for overseas and do some work hand-to-mouth. T'will be fun, and I wouldn't be earning enough to warrant the government reclaiming my student loan n_n

Man, I'm in that boat too.Metal Vendetta wrote:Nice one.

This place was jumping this time last year and a lot of my colleagues were absolute honeys. Very happy to stay, if not necs. for the work.
Now it is cock!
Defo going to have to look elsewhere.

It's classic Arnold J Rimmer Syndrome.Best First wrote:the fact that i am all powerful and yet can still get promoted is a contradiction i expect my followers to explain away for me.Brendocon wrote:... I didn't think there was anything higher than Best First?
Does this now mean you're God or Something?
In the eyes of your mother, you never fail, therefore you always get promoted.
I was going to ask if the promotion was wanted or unwanted, but the ker-ching persuaded me otherwise.
And more paradoxical evidence that will convince your doubters further of your non-existence.Best First wrote:the fact that i am all powerful and yet can still get promoted is a contradiction i expect my followers to explain away for me.Brendocon wrote:... As long as you've got enough money to run this place without asking anything from me, I'm happy.
Seriously through, congrats! :P
