If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Have fun dancing and drinking everyone!
Is this just a Swedish thing, or not? We have a maypole at work, and did some dincing and singing and something called the frogdance, had some cider and starberries. No stronger alcohol, but it's still early morning.

We don't.

It'd be nice to have something like that. I should get a movement going... I want a maypole! Or, rather... a junepole.
I swung around a signpole on the way home from work today and currently have green tea. I guess that'd be my celebration.

Midsummer's Day was Wednesday (21st June*), but it's still close enough to count.
I 'celebrated' it on Saturday with my ATC's Gliding School, as I mentioned in another topic, by taking part in their annual Longest Day Dawn 'til Dusk Gliding.
*Slides between 20th and 22nd of June due to Leap days. As people are probably aware.

That sounds great!
The Swedish celebrate it always on a Friday, to give people two days to recover before they have to go to work again. So this year it's the 23rd.
We had a nice midsummer lunch buffet: herring, salmon, potato salad, kotterbullar (sp? it's swedish meatballs), strawberries, cake, and lots more. I ate too much, but it was good.
The dutch don't celebrate midsummer, so I'm just lucky to have an extra party at work.

Happy midsummer guys and dolls.

I personally are just sitting around alone in my apartment, because the only person that's asked me to come out , is my moms new mentally unstable husband who just wants an excuse to get so drunk that he get's alcohol-poisoning.
Yay.
