For the first time in f--king DECADES...

...More Than Meets The Eye pt 1 is showing on TV here in Singapore. :D

It's a bit of an embarrasment when you wake upto the sounds of your kids laughing at Bumblebee's color scheme and Shockwave's face, among others.

It usually means you've overslept and missed half of your favourite childhood programme?

I caught it from the part with Shockwave going 'Cybertron shall remain as you leave it', so I think that's more than half, thankfully.

And he kept his word - Cybertron really remained as it was. Then after 4 million years Shocky thought: "Hmm, it's been a while since Megatron called back. Better check on him." :D

Thank god we had the comics... Otherwise, well we'd only remember Shocky for his unique toy.

Now it looks like they're showing the second episode this August 9th, our National Day. Stay tuned for the TV schedule scan.

Taking their time, are they? :)

Sadly, G1 was never aired/translated here in Hungary... We only had the 86 movie on videotapes, where the Decepticons were 'cleverly' renamed TOADS. No, no kidding. Toads. The translators never bothered to check the Marvel comics which were in production though.

Btw, why do kids find Bumblebee's color scheme funny? Yellow beetles were quite frequent... well back then they were.

Kids nowadays only remember the new Beetle, which is commonly pastel.

Back on topic: watching it now. Thank goodness it's 12.30 in the afternoon this time.

Happy National Day, Aaron.

Even though, due to the time zones, it's now the day after...

Just got word that they'll be showing the entire series every Tuesday at 4 pm. My guess is they'll start from MTMTE pt 3.

4 pm weekdays is a special belt called Retro Telly, where they bring back classic stuff like Loony Toons, Scooby-Doo, Care Bears, Gummi Bears, and even the new He-Man cartoon and Astroboy anime just because they're remakes. We have yet to get Space Ghost Coast to Coast in Singapore though.

Here's a scan of our TV guide, not to prove my claim or anything, but because there's something you guys might want to look at.

My god. Another year and August 9 rolls by again, another National Day.

Sadly there's nothing TF-centric on TV this time (the current broadcast of G1 ended last Sunday with Atlantis Arise), but in a rather odd display of nationalism they're showing Troy (Brad Pitt as Achilles) tonight. Probably to tide us over till 300 comes round.

Aye, 1 day after my re-mastered version arrived in the post, amazing - first time on normall TV? - I still say normall, u brits will know what I mean, cor im going all Peter Kay, just less funny.

re-mastered version is a must tho, i cant belive how poor the orginal tapes are in comparison, its like watching another film, plus u have superman style credits at the start!

Sounds like the one my brother brought back a little while ago. And by brought back I mean 'made a copy of some dude's DVD and brought the copy back'.

At least our 300 is a legit copy though. :D

They've finally found another regular slot for the cartoon, 4.30pm weekdays now. Season 2's in full swing, and today's ep is the one where some of the TFs get swept up by the Spacebridge to a planet of alien giants. And the giant boy who picks them up is called Aaron. I seriously do not remember this one.

EDIT: Ep title Child's Play, season 2 latter half. My god was the last post really in 07?!

Indeed it was! :)

And I'll have to admit... I've never heard of this episode either!

It wasn't on the G2 reruns we had here in Europe in the mid-90's that's for sure.

G2 I can understand, but this was intended to be a pure G1 rerun, as the Transformers Original listing up there practically screams out, so it figures they'd drag the obscure ones out of the woodwork. To be honest, G1 was during my growing up days when I was always dragged off for homework or something else by parents who had no respect at all for the franchise, so I must have missed out on half the sries back then. Yeah, deprived childhood. :D

Aaaand they've started broadcasting G1 again, this time 5pm Mondays. I thought we'd be up to G1 season 3 by now, but they're still on season 2, something called 'The Core'. I believe this was over 20 years before that movie of the same name.

I loved the Core... good character-building episode for Wheeljack and even the Constructicons. Funny how the Autobots felt perfectly OK with forcibly reprogramming them and turning them on the COns. And THEY call Bombshell a psycho...

Here in in BW too it bugged me a lot how easly can allegiances change in the cartoons... I mean, in BW pretty much half of Megatron's Preds were reprogrammed Maximals. Interestingly, the Maximals never tried to de-program Inferno or Quickstrike the same way they did with Blackarachnia.

Tuned in a bit late today, so I mised the title card. Instead of Constructicons, this time Insecticons are the focus, and Megatron conned them into feeding on this power plant thingy, which caused them to develop cyber-heartburn, which the Autobots found a cure for. So basically this makes two episodes in a row that Megs had to work together with the Bots for some reason.

Special note 1: while Megatron keeps Starscream around to backstab him as often as he likes, the Insecticons catch Soundwave snooping on them just once and immediately manhandle and cerebro-shell his head. Valuable lesson there.

Special note 2: once Bombshell starts shooting more cerebro shells around, every other Con gets headshotted, except Megatron who just catches it in his hand. Bad ass.

EDIT: today's ep was one of those ones where every TFan is apparently required to know the title of, more than what actually happens in it. Dinobot Island part 1. I'm pretty sure they reran this one previously, only the last time I tuned in late, and missed the bit where this episode featured the only use of 'beryllium baloney' outside of the movie. Also it sheds some light on why they haven't gone into season 3 yet.

EDIT 2: I just realised that with all this rerunning of G1 going on, there's absolutely nothing on GI Joe returning to Tv...
