ugh. is it me - or is this one of the least involving stories ever? I do not give a rats arse about a single protagonist.
Its like Furmy is trying to outdo Dan Abnet in the 'lets wipe DH off the creative map stakes'.
Strange given the quality of other recent SF outputs...

Actually....
{spoilers}------------------------
It's not really Captain Universe, it's an artificial energy-construct similar to the Uni-power, the Uni-Alias, wich means that AIM will sometime in the future be able to replicate it.
Of another note: Check out the current Planet Hulk storyline lads, the cybernetic guards of the emperor there, are 'Death's Heads', cyborgs that looks just like DH3, so the origin of the alien invasion that brought with it Death's Head 3 is now potentially known. Hulk is indeed supposed to return.. looks like he may have made himself emperor when he does.

So, am I understanding you guys properly? The whole Deaths Head 3.0 thing is actually just a background / lead-in to this New Universe series, which will be completely unconnected with Deaths Head anyway?
Was Deaths Head just a convenient name/character to slot into the 'cyborg' role, then?
I was sticking with the slow story just because I had some faith that SF would give us a worthwhile ending; that there would be some purpose (relating to DH) for all this stuff.
If its just an advert for a title I'm not gonna buy anyway, then I won't bother with another issue.

Ok, now I have to take a closer look as to exactly what Denyers theory about the Death's Head writing is.
EDIT: Ok, now I checked, and I think Denyer is a bit off in his theory. I think Simon got these ideas himself, and since the new DH3 is designed by Raiz especially for AF I'd say the small tie-in to another Marvel-title was an after-construct. The connection to the cosmic marvel-character however, I think was one of Furmans own ideas.
The Cosmic Marvel mini Annihilation rocks with it's socks off btw. The Death that walks has finally found a way to unleash all of his form upon our universe...

If you stop watching Twin Peaks after Leyland dies, you miss so many great moments...who cares about resolution, the final episode is about the most psychotic thing I've ever seen on television. And FWWM is awesome, I'll never forgive Lara Flynn Boyle for turning that down.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Three, I think.
There's a lot to like about much of season two, I'll admit.
Me. Or at least not leaving things in quite that state. You could probably quit whilst ahead a fraction from the end, though...Metal Vendetta wrote:If you stop watching Twin Peaks after Leyland dies, you miss so many great moments...who cares about resolution

And I never claimed it was Captain Universe'ssuper-sauce that was animating DH 3.0 and yet still get exposed to your patronising crap.Predabot wrote:Well, I never said the comic was a very good read.
'Has anyone actually read AmFan #18' ffs
Hound for admin.
edit: typo that'd provoke an irritating response if left.

but... he has a big gun!KingMob wrote:I don't give a toss about the Uni-Power nerdgasm, my gripe is that the story is boring me shitless. It's the kind of 'run here, blow this up, run here, blow that up, oh what's all going on really wouldn't you like to know mystery for the sake of mystery' nonsense that sends me to sleep mid-read.
come on!

It's not hard to follow. Just read the words. http://www.dictionary.com if you get any trouble.
Grrr. Argh.
Oh, so that wasn't you who posted patronising crap in this thread, saydie's thread, almost every other thread and the thread at the Archive where your approach to the similarly somewhat negative appraisal of the comic was to barge in withPredabot wrote:WHAT are you talking about? and proceed to be patronising again.So.. did anybody actually read Amazing Fantasy #18?
Oh, my mistake, my sincerest apologies, I must have momentarily become overcome by the tediousness and vented at the wrong person.
PS pirating comix is teh kewlest

Well, there appeared to me to be a small error of facts, that's why I posted the facts that I knew about the ties that DH3 had to other marvel-characters.
If you could perhaps post a more clear quote pointing out in detail what I have posted in this perticular thread that was so patronizing and utterly belittleing of anyone else but me, and I'll comment on that in an objective manor.
And why don't you light up a bit while you're at it.

Despite what I said, I bought it anyway.Denyer wrote:Join the club...Scraplet wrote:If its just an advert for a title I'm not gonna buy anyway, then I won't bother with another issue.
More of the same, couldn't give a monkeys about the story, until the last page!
Cool homage to the original facial features, and DH is set up to ride again properly....THE END. What!!!
Mr Furman, why didn't you start with this page in the first issue and use the time to let us get to know the new DH? Why? That last page was so nice. I could cry, but I won't, because I'm stronger than that.

yeah, last page is peachy.
only flicked through the issue so far...
edit - just erad it... and my original assesment pretty much stands.
however at the end of the day he might as well be called Geoff, there is no DH connection that i can see appart from a physical one, and to me that remains a significant waste.
ah well. can't have it all eh?
