Best Antivirus?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

So which one would you recommend? Now I got installed Panda and although it seems solid its firewall causes me many problems.

Norton? McAffe?

I am using PcCillin AntiVirus... i's not a resource hog like McAfee or Norton, updates automatically, and finds more viruses than the competition... also easy to use.

For firewall use ZoneAlarm FireWall Pro.

I use Norton but it has its drawbacks. For one they want you to pay every year for the auto update service which you really don't need as you can just download the updates yourself for free either on their site or download.com.

Also seems to eat a lot of memory compared to some of the other one. But overall its been great and does a good job in protecting the computer. If you can deal with the few drawbacks it is the best choice.

There are some free ones out there that you can find on download.com and you can read the reviews people leave there to see which is the best, as there are actually some very good free ones that will protect just as well as Norton.

Norton, it's for free because I download the newest version each year

I find that I'm looking very favorably at my current anti-virus, Avast. Since it's for free, takes virtually no memory when lying in on-access scanner mode, and that it's updated really quickly, since the updates are ussually only about 40-200 kb.

Very nifty little skinnable program this. :)
