Time's Top 100 movies

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Glanced across that last night. I know the point of that sort of thing is to provoke debate, and that it's all subjective and stuff, but no other list of that ilk has ever illicited the reaction of "yeah, whatever" from me.

I can't even be arsed to get pissed off that Shawshank's been omitted.

Actually - it doesn't say Top 100, it says All Time 100. All time what? Well, blatantly Time's 100 movies... but based on what? Are these their favourites? Most culturally significant? Most quotable? What?

Why do the first two Godfather films get one entry without the inclusion of the third? Because the third isn't as good and it drags it down so they choose to ignore it? If they can seperate it to that degree, why not class them as seperate movies? They've included Star Wars on its own without Episodes V or VI included. Yet LotR gets a bulk entry.

Senseless.
Grrr. Argh.

Yeah, that annoyed me too. Its just their way of cramming more movies in really. So when I say I've seen 17, I really mean 20.

Still, I'm up for tracking down some of them.

I do a little better with the imdb chart. Of their first 100 I've seen 54.

8. 10 if you count the LotR trilogy as three movies.

Any list that doesn't have Watership Down in it isn't worth looking at. ;)

Glory? - whats that?

BF - I dont think Finding Nemo is better then Toy Story, perhaps TS can pull on a few more cliches, and as its about toys, you can connect easier with it. FN is a fine film, but I thik TS works better on many levels.

Topics on these sorts of lists are fun because they consist mostly of "Where's [insert favourite/verymuchlyenliked movie here]?"

Me too, only 12!

And I agree, how the hell is Finding Nemo better than Toy Story, The Iron Giant, and most importantly, Watership Down?
