World Cup Group Stage.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

World Cup Group Stage.

England.
Sweden.
Praguay.
Trinidad & Tobago.

Sweden VS England.
England hasn't won over Sweden for 37 years.
Draw - or Swedish victory.

Trinidad & Tobago.
Well... they have Dwight Yorke...?

Paraguay.
Roque Santa Cruz is a good player. But he's had knee surgery and wont be back on the footy field until April. Which means very little time to get in top notch form.

So, Sweden and England will advance from the group - and they will play against either Germany, Ecuador, Poland or Costa Rica in the knock out round.

Everything feels great.

did anyone see the draw?

it was the most ridiculously drawn out thing ever.

still, good draw for England.

I think we'll beat Sweden tbh - the fact we haven't beaten you for ages doesn't mean much IMO.

When was the last time England even played against Sweden? I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened since Sven's been manager.

March 2004.

England played against Sweden in 2002 World Cup, also under Eriksson.

I like our Group A, we should get out of the group. What I don't like is after that we're gonna get obligatory butt-kicking from either of you. Unless we beat England in penalties. :o

We played each other in the World Cup 2002 (draw).
And in March 2004 we played each other again! (Sweden won)

Ouh, beaten by Ozz.

they were talking about it on footie focus.

it was pretty dumb:

"Oh! but if England win they may find themselves facing brazil/holland/portugal etc"

er... its the world cup, if we want to do well we have to beat good teams. That's the point.

good draw,

sooner or later you have to play the better teams, its not like you can avoid them...
