If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Favourite music?

Who's your favourite solo artist of all time?
And your favourite band?

Do tell.

You're only to choose one of each tho.

Solo artist; Tough call... but I'll say Magnus Uggla. He's swedish.

Band; Queen all the way. They are ******* amazing.
They are, and always will be, my favourite band.
Can't believe I'm still here.

If you asked this tommorrow you'd probably get a different answer, but....

Solo artist: Tracy Chapman

Band: Living Colour

Both have soul and a social conscience that's apparent in their music, which always appeals to me. TC is for chillin, and LC still rawk after all these years!!

Ugh, one??!?... :o

I'm counting the Eels as a solo artist. So :p

Um. Band. I'd have to sayyyyy... The Tea Party. If I found a club that played any of their tunes, I'd never, ever ******* leave. I'm serious.

For now anyway. In a week I'll have money and that will in all likelihood magically morph itself into booze and more CDs. Gods I love being irresponsible.

What a terrifically fiendish question you've discovered. :)

My choice for band is a lock. The solo artist is mutable, I'm afraid.

I'm going to nominate Lisa Lougheed, on the basis I've just found a French version and a modern cover of Run With Us, which made me dig out the MP3 Crafty sent me years back...

(A couple of originals with working links are here, including the full-length version which is off Evergreen Nights I think.)

Not so much ragging, more incredulity that anyone's still heard of them. They weren't around for very long, were they?

Ooh, nice site.

The only Gene single I've really heard of is Olympian, I think. I'm also probably mentally confusing them with The Frank and Walters and/or Shed Seven.

and they toured until the end of last year when they played their final gig at the Appollo on 15th December.
