Doctor Who on Children in Need

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Doctor Who on Children in Need

Post by Bouncelot » Wed Nov 16, 2005 11:47 pm

Just thought I'd point out for anyone who's missed the news that there's a 15 minute Doctor Who story on Children in Need on Friday. It's scheduled for about five past nine and apparently happens between The Parting of the Way and The Christmas Invasion.

I thought I'd seen a trailer for it, but somehow assumed it was a chrimbo trailer.

Makes much more sense for it to have been Pudsey-related.

Any idea on whether it'll be true to the form of the other two and have a part two on the saturday?

I've not heard anything to that effect. Unlike the other two, there's a fair chance of it being canon.

I'm out tommorow but hopefully my gf will record it.

I'd heard that it would be more like 3 to 5 mins?

I don't like the idea of it being set between TPOTW and TCI at all. Why make such an important story point a charity exclusive?

You mean his stints in Albert Square and regenerations into everybody from Nancy Sinatra to Brian Blessed aren't actually acknowledged as proper?!!!!!

I'm shocked and appalled. :(

I should point out that I'm at the Children In Need concert tommorow. Backstage. With Girls Aloud.

This makes me feel good.

15's what I noticed being discussed on Outpost Gallifrey, but it may well be less. Time will tell. It always does.

You didn't say it was your birthday. Well, until just now.

Happy Birthday.

Well, I quite enjoyed it. I'm starting to like Tennant's Doctor, having been unimpressed by his few seconds in The Parting of the Ways. And there's also some new continuity material in there as well despite it being a single scene.

I'm hoping my sister manages to tape it alright. My family decided to watch War of the Bloody Worlds on DVD instead...

it was ok, nice to see. dialogue was a bit hammy in places but was ok. nice to see (or rather hear) the return of the cloister bell too. think tennant is going to be good as the doc, as long as rtd isn't writing too much of the dialogue. ;)

if anyone's missed it, it's watchable on the who website now and i'm sure it'll be on torrent somewhere soon.

I got to watch it! The telly was tuned into Children In Need when I was in the green room backstage at the concert... amongst those watching with us were Tony Christie, Jamie Cullum and that chap from Rogue Traders. Surreal.

Anyhow, I couldn't really hear it much because of the noise in the room. I was surprised at Tennant jumping around and being so erratic... bit Colin Baker in Twin Dilemma almost! It was funny that when he was being serious, he was very much like Eccles. Billie looked nothing like she did in TPOTW.

I think most of all I was pleased that it was rather throwaway and hardly essential to link TPOTW to TCI at all... Rose's distrust of the Doc will be continued into that episode and explored better no doubt.

As for Girls Aloud... they are amazingly gorgeous up close in real life. But they did have hair and make up people following them wherever they went at all times. They just seemed to get shunted from corridor to room to corridor whenever I saw them. Not altogether a glamorous existence.

Is is wrong to be insanely jelous of a man who was just in the same room as them?

As for the special, it was a bit of fluff, but entertaining enough.

Its funny, I didn't fancy them before, but I definitely do now!

Up close Sarah Harding's hair is very very blonde.

We got a really short interview with them. Downloadable here from tonight: http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/entertainment/index.shtml (click on the 'download' purple button top right hand corner)
