If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Are you sure about that?
I'm pretty sure my Gamecube only cost £130 on launch day. The cheapest version of the 360 is £210.

Im not sure about the UK to be fair - but there was a list on IGN proving it was the cheapest in US launch history recently.
Was the GC really £130 here in the UK... seems so long ago.

They have it marked at Best Buy for $450 or something like that. Since I bought my PS2 and X-Box for just under $200, I'd say there's a significant difference.

500 pounds or 500 dollars? I'd swear the PS2 was originally $300 USD.

Cube launched in the states for $200
http://cube.ign.com/articles/095/095091p1.html
I dont think you can put $100 down to inflation in 4 years
*edit* I just want to add that I think the 360 is launching at a reasonable price, but it seems silly to look at the core pack as that is the pack that idiots will surely buy, pay that bit extra and you get a whole lot more for your bucks.

GC was the most succesfull console launch in UK history, until the DS (and subsequently the PSP) were launched.
Shame Nintendo couldnt build on that start with decent software support...
