In the children's comic/cartoon The Transformers, the "evil" Decepticon's are led by Megatron who seeks to impose order on the galaxy through conquest and shows no remorse in killing those in his way. He is opposed by the "heroic" Autobot's led by Optimus Prime, who value the sanctity of life and the right to freedom above all things. Optimus Prime has had Megatron at his mercy at many times but has never killed him, as a result Megatron has subsequently returned to his conquering and killing. Does this make Prime heroic for sticking to his moral values even though his resolve will make his war harder, or selfish for maintaining his personal integrity when in doing so he leaves others open to the continued threat of death and conquest from his opponent?
